Johnny threw passes to Jerry Richardson,of Hardee’s fame, for a couple of years.
Jerry became the richest former NFL player, and only the second NFL player to own a team, George Halas (Bears) was the other.

I did a book report on Johnny U in elementary school
I had to present to the class.
The teacher wanted us bring something visual as a support item for each of our presentations
I wore my little football uniform
That picture in Tugs post was on the cover of the book
Seeing it just now made that book report pop in my mind

growing up. Loved the battles he had with Bart Starr and the Packers . . . and even Y.A. Tittle and the Giants.

It’s hard for me to believe Jonny played his college ball for Louisville . . . His college number (16) is the only one ever “Retired” by the Cardinals of Kentucky.
