What's the latest on him

It's between us and UGA. His final visit is to UGA

Family and friends are pushing him to us but we'll see

I hope we get the last shot at him. I would bet ugay opens up the checkbook though. Don't doubt it one bit. I hope he sees what we have to offer and has our kind of character values and morals. That is a huge selling point for Clemson to both players and to parents.

That is a very positive thing, and I think early PT potential at Clemson should appeal to him.

I imagine he will know that many of our guys will be highly sought in the draft. It still can have a great impact, and he will see the possibility for possible early PT. IMO

Hopefully he sees that as an early enrollee he could get into the rotation quick next year. However, with three down lineman and as many DL recruits that they already have it seems unlikely for early playing time there.

Re: It's between us and UGA. His final visit is to UGA

I agree. I would imagine his opportunities at Clemson for early PT are much greater at Clemson, especially if he is as good as advertised.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think he's Clemson's to lose...

He really loved his visit and it was a great game with a loud crowd. I would be mildly surprised if we get him.

Re: Albert Huggins

He struck up a friendship with UGA commit Jonathan Abrams this past weekend who encouraged AH to "commit to the G." Huggins loved the job security of Ga's staff. I'm sure Huggins is intrigued by the possibility of playing beside Trenton Thompson and others in UGA's defensive heavy class of 2015. Pruitt trumps Venables as well. We'll know soon enough. Gata Dawgs!

Right on time, as usual.

lol! hardly. Pruitt has already put together a monster defensive class. We want Huggins as well as Josh Sweat............but we don't need them like Cu. No pressure on us....plenty on you. Surely there's no way Dabo could lose AH after 3 years of recruiting.......is there?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

See what I mean, guys?

Nov 19, 2014, 10:48 AM

We don't need him. You need him. Blah blah blah. Doesn't Jay Rome need a groin massage or something? Know your role.

We don't need any one guy

Our DC is a better coach than your DC. We'll be fine. You just worry about finding a way to finally win a conference title with all those 5* dudes you have.

Re: job security of Ga's staff

Nov 19, 2014, 10:48 AM

in his owns words.....When asked to give the Bulldogs' biggest selling point, Huggins didn't hesitate giving his answer.

"The coaching staff," Huggins said. "I don't see any of them moving the next couple of years, at least the next five years. I don't see any of them leaving."

If Huggins wants to play in 2015 he should sign with Cu who loses like 6-7 DL.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pruitt won't stay that long. He never has.***

For all of the bravado in your post..

Nov 19, 2014, 10:47 AM [ in reply to Re: Albert Huggins ]

It really comes down to weather he's a better fit for a 3-4 DE/LB or a 4-3 DE/DT.

At 17 1/2 y/o and 279 lbs, I think he could go either way. Personally I think his best bet is to put on 20 lbs of muscle and play DT in a 4-3 (I'm sure that's what Venables is telling him too).

Pruitt is a better recruiter than Venables.........so there's that. Still I realize UGA is on the outside looking in.

"Pruitt is a better recruiter than Venables.........so there's that. Still I realize UGA is on the outside looking in. "

Maybe. But it all still boils down to where the kid wants to play in the defense and more importantly where he's best SUITED to play, on the edge or in the middle.

If he wants to play on the edge, the logical answer is UGA (since their 3-4 requires a bigger DE).
If he wants to play in the middle, the logical answer is Clemson.

Given the kid's Height, 6'3", weight 280 lbs (at 17 1/2), "slow" 4.9 40 time (which is not bad for a D-lineman), I think he's a better fit for playing in the middle, which ultimately is why I think he's trending towards the tigers.

Dawg51, security of your coaching staff

Nov 19, 2014, 11:40 AM [ in reply to Re: Albert Huggins ]

who have won nothing and underachieve every year. Yep, that made sense. Not saying we are doing great ourselves, but I'm sure your coaches "job security" is just a joke on your part, right ?

Richt has been "almost fired" many times but has sustained for a reason. What is that reason in your estimation ?

Those were Huggins words....it makes no difference what you or I think. As for Richt....if many times = once , you are correct.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Just joshing you Dawg51, I hope Tigers get him

Nov 19, 2014, 1:14 PM

but unfortunately can see the pull to UGA as well. He will be a difference maker on the defensive line of wherever he goes and we need to replace one of the most dominant defensive lines in our history and that is a Huge accomplishment with some of the defensive teams we have had. I reference the high flying offense of today versus the Danny Ford days where the offense was not at such an advantage with all the penalties that are called today.

His dad is pushing the SEC. His mom was all Clemson, but after the visit to UGA she is okay with UGA now.
