I saw quite a lot from national talking heads on twitter saying how he didn't seem to try and get that last first down very hard. What do you think? Obviously we are happy he didn't get it but could he done more? Cut inside? tried a spin or anything

and took away any cutback...
he fit it the way he was coached... cutting inside would have lost more yards
great job by Edmonds of making the sideline a 2nd defender

A smart one that ended this game. Good coaching, good decision. He got hit out he couldn't have come back in or it would have been stopped shorter. Edmonds nailed it.

Him a yard towards the sideline.
If Quick slows down, Edmonds hits him further up field. quick would have to had broken the initial contact.

Maybe he thought he had it - I sure thought he had it at first. But then, my seat was about 94 yards away.

I think Marcus Edmond took a great angle and pretty much forced his hand. But for whatever reason, very similar to the ND game last year, most seem to be talking about what Louisville coulda/shoulda/woulda done instead of what Clemson DID DO.

I'm thinking Quick either thought he had it or his momentum, plus Edmunds' shove, forced the issue -- pushing him out of bounds a bit short. I'm not even sure Edmunds knew where he was in relation to the first down marker.

Pretty much like how Notre Dame almost won the game. A lot of people focused on that instead of realizing that they in fact lost the game.

How about Clemson WOULDA beat the breaks on off UL if out guys COULDA held onto the dang ball and not turned it over 5 times. That game SHOULA been a blow out.

I think he may have forgotten about the penalty and thought he had made up the yardage for the 1st down. He definitely didn't look to be fighting for it.

He honestly believed he had it. You could see him signal first down after going out of bounds. If he would of realized he needed another yard, he probably could have made a move and got it. Glad he didn't.

Why he didnt cut back inside, a TD would have been likely - even if not, they had a timeout left in their back pocket if he was tackled in the field of play.

The sticks are held on the visiting sidelines. Normally there is a bright red plastic strip that is laid down on the home sidelines where the first down is. It was NOT there on that play. Hard to know where you need to go for first down if you don't have visual marker on that sidelines.

He just tried to beat our guy to the outside and got hit. He didn't run out of bounds he got knocked there. It is just ESPN trying to generate drama and heaven forbid they give the young man credit for the sweet game-saving hit. I bout peed my pants personally.

wishful thinking on your part.
What if Leggett, instead of fumbling on the five yard line, had busted a move, held onto the ball, and scored a touchdown? What if the defender who made the endzone INT on our first possession had been a step behind? It would have been an easy touchdown.
Our guy made the play he had to make when the chips were down and the game was on the line. What more do you want? Who knows what might have happened in an alternative universe. What's your point?

Actually, the turn of the game that allowed Louisville to come back was just one second that McCloud lost his concentration. The ball bounced their way.
It's pretty much like the old days that we kept shooting ourselves in the foot to try to find a way to lose. The only difference is this team is well composed enough to come back, but we also have to thank Scott for that return too.

I've watched it several times. I'd read in several places that Quick hadn't tried very hard but I don't see that at all. He really didn't have much choice of which way to go and bang, he's hit, out of bounds, game over.
