extremely happy with the current state of Clemson basketball. The only issues would be these:
1. We still have a tendency to lose a game each year that we should not. (Ga. Tech. at home this year would be an example).
2. JK fatigue. If you have noticed there are some posters that TD everything JK posts good or bad. Since he/she/it never hesitates to badmouth Dabo even in basketball posts. This has long since driven some to extreme levels of annoyance. So don't confuse annoyance with JK as being anti CU basketball. They are not the same thing.

that drive me crazy. Brad Brownell coached teams have a tendency to repeat several of them, over and over and over again.
1) Dribble the shot clock away, then either launch a desperation shot, or don't even get one off.
2) Pass up wide open mid range jump shots to try and drive all the way to the basket, usually resulting in a steal, throwaway, or much less often, a trip to the foul line or a made shot. Our current lineup, and most past ones, are not talented enough ball handlers to drive into traffic without having the ball stripped away.
3) Under pressure, BB coached teams have a tendency to have an incredibly tough time getting the ball inbounds when the other team has called a timeout and have time to set up a defense. See other schools run set formation plays that make it look easy.
4) BB will call a timeout, use up an entire black marker scribbling all over his whiteboard, and the play that results is just a clearout and hope Chase Hunter can save our bacon yet again. If that is always going to be the play, just save the ink?
5) POOR offensive rebounding. This is another BB coached team staple. Frustrating as Heyall watching the opposition get two, three, or MORE shot attempts per possession, while we are generally one and done.
THIS years team has overachieved in spite of STILL doing most, if not all of the things on this list at some point in just about every game. Due to this, we have been in some nail biters that should have, and COULD have been easy double digit wins. Which brings me to the final thing on the list.
6) Long scoring droughts. This is also a staple of BB coached teams. Due to this, even large double digit leads early in first or second halves are never safe. We are always going to let the other team back in it, due to a long scoring drought. Do some pick and rolls, Harlem Globetrotter weaves, SOMETHING to break up these long scoreless streaks. ANY made basket during one of those runs will demoralize the other team.

Yes, Valley Judge, all teams at times exhibit the behaviors that you as Captain Brownlee Obvious pointed out. MY point is, well coached teams don't do it nearly as often, or systemically, as Brad Brownlee coached teams do. Hide and watch our games, and count the times we make a play that adds to each category, then watch some of the highly ranked teams and compare. Dare you.

to add . . . POOR rebounding period. Defensive and offensive. Characterized by lacking rebounding fundamentals. This is what gets in my crawl. So as good as we do and I'm happy overall, we could be better. And Brad will never get us there because he obviously doesn't teach or require this.

would cease to exist if Brad Brownell were not our coach. The blind devotion is truly staggering. I gave him over ten years of being on his bandwagon to get it done, before I exited. And by "it" I mean, quite simply, win an ACC Championship. Because that would be a next step that a Clemson basketball coach has never accomplished, other than the 1990 "regular season" championship, which does not come with an automatic NCAA Tournament berth. STILL waiting on that first one, even though the quality of ACC basketball has fallen off dramatically in the past two or three years, as readily seen in the polls and national perception. Maybe he finally gets it done this year, but you will excuse me if I do not hold my breath waiting on it.

Very happy about finally going to two straight NCAATs and where the program is going. But JK is always falsifying his argument to the hilt to prove Coach Brownell should be considered the best coach ever in College Basketball.
Never go for JK's argument again that Clemson Basketball Program is at the very bottom of the ACC as far as budget and revenue.
That is one of the reasons why Coach Brownell has improved the program. It is currently moving up.

We are historically the worst ACC basketball program, and our support for basketball has been near the bottom of the conference for decades. That seems to be improving some under Neff, which is a huge part of our success recently, but we still fund basketball way less than many other ACC schools.
I don’t think Brad is the best coach ever, but I do think he is an excellent coach. It’s too bad that many people here, including you, haven’t been able to see that. But hey, at least you don’t post numerous threads anymore about coaches you want to hire after Brad is fired.

Who in the ACC do you feel has a worse basketball history than we do? Certainly not more recent edition, such as Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Louisville, and Boston College.
The funding numbers have been reviewed here numerous times and we have consistently been toward the bottom of the conference.
Regardless, the point still stands. We are a football school in a basketball conference, and have not and currently do not devote nearly the resourcesto our basketball program that many other conferences do.

You might be getting the double team up again but it’s all in fun 🤩. Don’t give them/they/him your joy, especially the Clemson fan guilt trip.
It’s a gang up to challenge your right and opinion, in my opinion.
It’s a great way to keep the clicks coming but it always hurts the enthusiasm and joy of the fans looking to give their view in what they believe is best for Clemson.
It can damage those coming here to enjoy our best run in basketball in a long time, at the expense of the cuts on our incredible football program/coach.

A national reporter says something critical about our football program? They are accused by multiple people of having an anti-Clemson agenda.
An analyst says that Dabo needs to use the portal? They are just furthering the ESPN agenda to pump up the SEC and degrade the ACC.
Someone pronounces Clemson with a Z? They are evil.
Amazingly, I have seen people here - numerous times - suggest that criticism of Clemson is due things such as having a Christian coach and having a largely conservative fan base.
We are to the point that any sentiment that isn't glowing about Clemson football, even when it is from our own fans, is attacked aggressively and in large numbers.
This behavior has been noted by plenty of people outside our fan base, including a video by a popular college football analyst on YouTube just this week. You seem to be part of that group that gives our fan base at large a bad name.
I would love to see us develop thicker skin as a fan base. We have a lot to be proud of, and our self-esteem shouldn't rely on the approval of others.

Those are some very specific, minor things to claim they make the stereotype Clemson. I think you’re projecting because you don’t like Clemson fans. It’s really not worth arguing at this point it’s so evident.
Every college team message board has people who react the ways you are describing so that doesn’t make it the stereotype at Clemson. I’ve never seen someone called “evil” because of saying Clemson with a Z. I’ve heard a few people complain it. But far less than people who complain about NFL players listing their high school or elementary school during player introductions. And that is also something that is complained about by some small segment of every fan base.
Dabo had a complaint filed against him by the Freedom From Religion Foundation and his baptism of Deandre Hopkins sparked a fair amount of protest. So, the anti-Christian thing, while probably overblown, was far from a conspiracy theory.
“We are to the point that any sentiment that isn't glowing about Clemson football, even when it is from our own fans, is attacked aggressively and in large numbers.” This is just a straight up straw man argument.
A popular YouTube football analyst said something negative? Again, something that is happening to every major program in college football. Not part of a Clemson stereotype.
Develop thicker skin? You’ve been spewing venom at Clemson for years , not because anyone “hates” Brownell, because you can’t stand to have any aspect of your mostly fictional narrative challenged.

I don't really care if you or anyone else dislikes Brownell or thinks he is a bad coach. I will happily debate the points I disagree with, but I absolutely support your right to your opinion and I certainly don't take it personally.
In contrast, questioning Dabo or the football program around here is tantamount to heresy. Some of you seem to take it as an attack on your character if someone questions Dabo. It's weird, and it is cult-like.
I like Dabo a lot, and think he is a great coach, but I have questioned him a lot lately. I feel that my disagreement with him is appropriate given the tremendous resources he has and the fact that he has fallen well short of expectations. Interestingly, a lot of the criticisms I and others here have had of him have been very reasonable, and proven to be valid, based on our recent results as well as the changes you've seen Dabo make recently. He seems to finally be recognizing his mistakes, which is ultimately a good thing for Clemson football.
I am proud to be a Clemson fan. I network with people daily who are fans of other teams, and they routinely express a positive view of Clemson fans as kind people who support their team well. That's the overall perception. However, when you dig deeper, especially on the internet, you will see that we have become known as a fan base that is also very sensitive to criticism about football. There is a reason why people like Finebaum say what they do. The high level of engagement here on TNet with regard to people like Finebaum shows you just how accurate the butthurt reputation is.

extremely happy with the current state of Clemson basketball. The only issues would be these:
1. We still have a tendency to lose a game each year that we should not. (Ga. Tech. at home this year would be an example).
2. JK fatigue. If you have noticed there are some posters that TD everything JK posts good or bad. Since he/she/it never hesitates to badmouth Dabo even in basketball posts. This has long since driven some to extreme levels of annoyance. So don't confuse annoyance with JK as being anti CU basketball. They are not the same thing.
If there was only a name to use for losing a game where most expected a win. Oh yeah, it's called an upset and happens to 99.9% of all teams in every single sport, every single season. There is no evidence it happens to a CBB coached team any more or less than other teams.
As for JK, he simply mirrors what the LF gives so why do his posts upset you but not those equally unfair posts by the fringe? You could also put him on ignore but many on here live for complaining about him.

They're putting together a great season. Having followed for so long, though - I just keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. Like you said, we tend to lose games we shouldn't lose - especially in the conference or NCAA tourneys. If CBB can get some consistency going - which seems to be one of the things his teams struggle with - then we can really make some waves.
I don't mind JK. Really couldn't care less. Part of the Clemson family, as far as I'm concerned. I've got a big family - we don't all agree all the time and there are one or two who, in one way or another, kind of live on the fringes relatively to the others. Just part of life and any kind of family.

The OP said that we lose games every year we should not. You have been presented with evidence to suggest that this is not a problem, as every team in major college basketball dating back to the mid 70s has lost games it shouldn't have.
That's like complaining about missing shots, or going on a scoring drought. They happen to everyone, and are not unique to Clemson basketball.

I fully admit the problem is Keller. I support Clemson basketball completely. Whoever the administration decides should be the coach will get my support. And whoever that coach puts on the floor to play will get my support. Just like football or any other Clemson sports team. There is no way I will believe judge can honestly say the same thing regarding Clemson football. But his idea of support is different than mine so he will claim to be a supporter even when he promotes negativity.

and
2. We could win it all in March Madness, and JK would find a way to troll Dabo in celebration, it's inherent. Either the Troll is actually Brad, Brad's wife, or a paid bot to stir the pot. It's odd that a real person would have that much envy/hate for one coach.

You’re not wrong. I’ve been one of the loudest fire the Brad voices in the room. The last two seasons have earned him a good bit more time as he seems to have turned the corner kinda like Dabo did. They both learned in the job and had to learn to recruit, win the big games, win the layup games, and not lose to terrible opponents. I want to see Clemson compete for titles in every sport.
