That's about 3 billion in savings per year.
More to come.

tenured, and/or those who were going to retire in a few years.
If your passport needs renewing, or you need help with your flood insurance, or anything else the federal gov't is involved in..might want to get that taken care of in the next few months.

20k people probably leave the fed govt over any several month period anyway since it employes many times that. Pretending these 20k will suddenly cause chaos is disingenuous. However left wing trash that work in big govt are good at maximizing the pain of any cuts on regular people so never say never.

1) The DOGE buyout is causing people to leave and saving the taxpayers' money
or
2) The number of people leaving is normal and the buyout is doing nothing

Here's what I don't get. He sent that buyout offer to every single federal

employee. Kind of surprised only 20K took him up on the offer. But my main concern is WHERE are those 20K coming from? You may have one agency severely understaffed, and overworked, and 80% of them may leave, rendering them in capable of doing whatever it is they do.
Please, name a company that sends buyout offers to every employee? RIFS are usually targeted to less important, and/or underperforming departments. You don't offer buyouts to the entire company. Even Elon Musk, at Twitter, didn't offer a company-wide buyout for all employees. He just fired 80% of the employees, but this was after he had at least figured out who was important and who wasn't.

The only people that took it were the good ones we didn't want to leave.
None of the retired who came back for the 2nd time took it.

Well, DCIT is one department, so that makes sense.

But you'd never see Clemson offer buyouts to all University employees.

That requires effort, which they are not willing to put in.

They don’t care about what the impacts are. Same as the Jan 6 pardons, instead of putting in the effort to pardon only the ones that weren’t violent, Trump said F it, release them all. Their plan is to be a bull in a china shop, break a bunch of stuff, and worry about maybe fixing it later. MAGA won’t care if there are negative impacts, all they care about is having less of the nebulous “swamp.”

I’ve known companies who’ve done it as well. And end up having to hire people, but at a much lower cost. Win win I guess.

Besides, isn't the plan to replace the "swamp creatures" with Trump loyalists, which is so much better, and apparently costs the same?

The only ones.accepting the offer are the productive ones with the skills to make more money in the private sector. The low performers aren't willingly going anywhere, so that's who we'll be stuck with. Maybe that's the point? Make government even more dysfunctional and less eff we have an excuse to slash it even more.

Those 20,000 ( so far) we're planning to retire soon anyway. So the new regime will now pay them to retire early. Brilliant! Personally, I wish 100% of federal employees would accept this stupid "offer". What a cluster f... that would be. Getting what you voted for idiots. Enjoy.

Like I said, if you knew the facts, obviously you are clueless. So for once try speaking with knowledge of the subject instead of your hatred.
