The ACC Argument
Nov 25, 2012, 3:20 PM

Many on TNET have been saying staying in the ACC is keeping us weak, because it is weak.
However, us being in the ACC in basketball for 59 years, playing the toughest teams in the toughest basketball conference for most of those 59 years, has not done one thing to improve us in basketball.
We are still typically in the middle to lower tier of the ACC year in, year out.

I don't think anyone would argue that.

I would argue it. After the last four years I definitely would. We arent anything special in football. Many think we are but performance shows otherwise unfortunately.

my comment has nothing to do with wins or losses. It is what is important to Clemson.

We are not a basketball school. The Clemson fan base cares very little about the sport and places its attention primarily on football.
South Carolina, like Clemson, has a football-focused fan base. As the SEC is a football-focused conference, the Gamecocks were in the right place to be encouraged and pressured to improve.

Our boosters don't demand success in basketball.

We should demand more in football, but beating up on a weak ACC apparently placates most of our fan base.

respect in the eyes of voters is important. The ACC in football is universally dissed and rightyl so. So much is subjective in Football. We need to be in a football conference. We are CLEMSON.
