Swinney says his team has two options this week

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney talked about responding to adversity on his call-in show Monday:
"You've got two options. You can quit. You can lay down and you can pout. Or you can dust yourself off and get your butt back in the fight. That's what winners do. Obviously, very disappointing game the other night. In position to win. This team right now needs to relearn to win. You're not entitled to win just because you come to Clemson. Even though we've won a ton-a ton-a ton of games -- you aren't entitled to win. We've got a lot of things that are factors but our margin for error is not very big right now so we have to work our butts off to be more opportunistic. Because plays are there. We got to be more precise and detailed in what we do and be better situationally.
"Again, I think that for me the one thing I've learned in life is that when you're in the pit of it -- I know something good is coming...Struggle is what makes you stronger, if you handle it the right way. We definitely will do that...Got to move on and also keep a good perspective. Make sure you know reality from perception. We have had an amazing journey these past 13 years and we're in the middle of that journey. This is just one season in the middle of an unbelievable journey...It hurts because we work awfully hard and it's important to everyone. We are where we are right now and we've got to stay together. Stay focused on the task at hand and find a way to win and go from there.
"The only thing we can control is this week and our attitude and our preparation and response in how we finish. There's a lot of two and three-loss teams in the country right now. So, accept the challenge of where you are and do something about it and finish well. There's a lot out there for us."

Two options win or lose. We shall see the full coaching talent on display these last several games. The only thing motivating these kids now will be pure coaching. I hope Dabo and staff can earn their checks.

We heard it before, and it is true!
Life is about 20% of what happens to you. The other 80% is how you respond to it.
Tigers, how will you respond???
Tiger Nation will be cheering you on Saturday!!!
Beat the Noles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s a bit of a stretch to say that we were in position to win against Pitt.***

Come on Keller. I usually agree with most of your poast, but this one is the complete opposite of yours during b-ball season; for which I usually agree with mind you. You’re off base here however.

Judge is right ... "being a few plays away" doesn't mean we were in a position to win.
If Shipley makes that catch ... maybe it's closer. But that's about it.

There are no 'definite' answers to exactly how many "few" is. General consensus is that 2 = "couple" so "few" must be 3, maybe more. So let's say its 3. Let's change 1) Shipley drop 2) Shovel-Six and 3) INT in the red-zone. Those are game changers - fix those & we're back in it. If we do one more, 4) Don't bust coverage on backside deep ball for another TD. But technically, any time you lose by 14 or less, you can change a 'few plays' and be back in the game.

this through and come out better for it.
This story for this season is not finished yet, not for the student-athletes, not for the coaches, not for the administration, and not for the fans.
Stay all in.

Not that it matters, but I really have a problem with a couple of those statements from Dabo. First, talking about past success, and then saying there are “a lot of two and three loss teams out there”. These are not statements that would come from the mouth of Dabo who took us to two national titles. Sounds more like Tommy Bowden. Really concerned about the leadership

Sounds like the same Dabo to me. It is hard to win. What part of that didn't you get in his comments?

Dabo has historically always been about the "goals", winning the opener, bowl eligibility, winning the division, winning the conference and the finisher. He has never compared his team to other mediocre teams and thus far we have yet to achieve any of those goals and it's likely that we won't achieve but one.
His Tommy Bowden esque responses is worrisome IMO

Let me get this straight, you prefer that he talks about the opener, div championships, ACC and national titles now. So basically you want to forget about this year and move to the next??
I smell feathers.

I just love motivational speeches. Yea ,not really. I don't care who gives them or what they say! But I don't like sugarcoating things either or making up excuses like "We are who we are right now", or I don't want to bench him (DJ)because "he doesn't want to "disrupt his rhythm"(T.E. comment ) or we are disrupted by "crowd noise". And I don't care how many 2 and 3 loss teams there are in the country. I care about this team. So Dabo you have two other options this week. You can continue with the same old bu!!$#!+ or you fix the freaking problems.

You don't throw a bad crew off the ship in the middle of the ocean, you wait until you're docked. Not to say one of the crew can be forced to walk the plank to set an example but Captain Dabo doesn't work that way.

Sounds like you are headed for another team to cheer for. Go ahead and make that jump. It won't hurt our feelings. Otherwise quit your tantrum and ride this wave out

Try something completely different
or
keep doing the same thing and wondering why it isn't working.

Run the hell out of the ball with TP and Shipley, let Pace and Mafah give Shipley a rest as needed, and then a couple of trick passes from Shipley to the WRs who want to catch the ball.
And please do hey have to include T Bowden in the tribute. Really?

Forgot to add, let DJ5 do all the after game stadium practice he would like under the lights. Have him plenty of cameras ready. Letting him set for most of a complete game might help him with his focus. Or not.
