Alabama Fans

Met many Alabama fans in NO. Our hotel was about half & half Clemson and Ala fans. Found them to be nice folks with much respect for Clemson. They all love Dabo and all expect him to be their next coach, we argued about that a lot. Most finally agreed he would be offered the job and up to him.

I was shocked when they all were chanting SEC when the PA guy said the Georgia-Oklahoma final score.

Big brother watching out for baby brothers, but baby brothers all sold him out. As one of three boys, this is not an unfamiliar concept to me.

Because I sat in the Bama endzone last year, and didn’t feel the respect. There were some good eggs, but they were a small minority.

The Bama fans that I encountered during this trip were delightful people to be around. One family insisted that we ride their rented van to the game with them and invited us to their party at the Marriott. I accepted the ride but declined the party. Maybe if they got “likkered up” they would have been less kind. Not likely. They were classy folks. Now that I think about it, maybe this was a trick. I like to never found a ride back to the Hilton at midnight! lol
They had certainly met some Clemson folks who were not very nice to them but there’s an a$$hole in most crowds. Hope these were tnetters!

Maybe you end up with some of the group mentality where some of the more vocal ones steer the others in a direction. I was fortunate enough to get hooked up with an Alabama guy for the first NC in Arizona and got his tickets again last year. Maybe he gives at a level that tends to have better fans but I found nearly all to be polite even though I was in the minority as a Clemson fan. This year I bought from Ticket City and there was a pretty even mix around me but I still found the ones nearby to be polite. I know that I will be pulling for Bama next week primarily because of the difference that I feel in the 2 fan bases.

Most of the Bama fans I encountered were nice, but there were a few of them which were kind of rude. There was one guy who was seated by himself in a Clemson section at the end of the game who was shouting loudly about he saw how we were, no Clemson fans were telling him "Good game," etc. Upon exiting the dome, the "roll Tides" being shouted directly at us were a bit much. One Bama fan blocked my path and forcefully commanded me to take his Bama pompom. I said: "No thank you." At a rest stop, we were informed that men wearing orange should use the women's side of the facility. We got another "roll Tide" from a group of fans while leaving a gas station in Florida. In and of themselves, these were small things, but they showed a definite lack of respect and civility.

While I didn't get to go to the game I still will pull for Clemson when they are playing any team except Bama. I was pulling hard for y'all against Awburn especially. I usually do pull for the SEC teams that are not Awbren or Tenrsea. I refuse to pull for either of those two teams regardless of who they play.
Roll Tide and Go (Clemson) Tigers...
Oh, and I offer my apologies to any of y'all that experienced rudeness from any Bama fans...
