We are losing them to other ACC schools. So as we struggle to maintain any relevance on the national stage other conference schools are elevating their program. Are graduation rates our benchmark for success from here out?

That has not been the goal of a football program anywhere since the 60’s. The degrees and tutoring or blatant test taking that gets done for these guys is absurd. When is the last time you heard of a kid being academically ineligible

Obviously, it is a goal of this football program. People complain about how athletes go to college just to go to the pros and not get an education. Now, you want to complain about a program that stresses education. Doesn't matter what the degree is in, they are getting an education. Not everyone is NFL material and need something to fall back on. And, as a former athlete at Clemson, I have seen the academically ineligible first hand. I myself missed a semester of academic probation for failing a class. With the world these days, you need to be as educated as you can, in as many things as you can be.

The next de-commit will sting worse than any of them in my opinion. In-state recruit from a city that has been producing great football players. No reason to lose this kid but we will.

The sad part is most ncaa players will never see a training camp on an nfl team. College is an opportunity to get a degree that will further you in life. So many miss the boat because they have had their heads filled with bs their entire lives.

He's not complaining about athletes who want an education, he's complaining about the athletes who: (a) have tests taken for them; (b) take fake majors and classes where they are guaranteed As; and (c) don't show up to class yet miraculously maintain eligibility.
You were not a football player. You didn't matter, so the school wouldn't let you get away with it. I saw some of the above first-hand when I was in school. And imagine being willing to say you failed a class at Clemson....

Duke tanned our hides last year. Will not be long until GT does and it becomes a rivalry again. Dread playing them at Bobby Dodd next year.

Let these guys go play for top dollar somewhere for a couple years then head back home and pump gas for the rest of their lives if they want. They certainly won't be getting a degree so they better be very frugal with that easy money. Of course none of them will and then they'll be broke, degreeless and unemployed by 22. College football didn't have to be that way for many of them but chasing those quick bucks over something more meaningful and lasting will have consequences for many of them a few years down the road. Unfortunately you can't convince them or their parents of any of that so that undisputable reality is irrelevant to them.

Frugal is not in most of their vocabularies. Go look at the parking lot during practice. There are $100k+ cars in almost every other slot. The ones that are not are probably walk-ons and student managers.

Yeah, I guarantee I'm overall more educated than you. It is absurd that you'd consider the value of Clemson to exceed millions of dollars more than other schools. GT is a significantly better school than Clemson....
