The BIG has 9 conference games and they may be doing a non con with the SEC in the future. They don't want to schedule Clemson too. We may be playing non con against only Big 12 teams in the future if this SEC-Big Ten challenge goes through.

I'm sure that will put the stadium at 98,000-plus.

I do agree with your sarcastic post. We have no business playing those teams. When we win, we're supposed to. If the score is not a blowout, we look weak, and our conference is viewed as too weak anyway. Nothing to be gained with this that couldn't be gained through an internal scrimmage, and we wouldn't have to pay a bunch of money to a team we have no business playing. Same is true for Citadel, SCST, etc.

I could be mistaken but I believe it is state law for us to play in state smaller schools…though I don’t know how many times we must do that each year but I agree with the rest of your premise…that we aren’t helped in polling playing small schools, but it does give us an off ish week in the schedule and an opportunity to expand player participation with back ups and give starters a rest or chance to build stats… there are benefits but it’s always an offset of something else…

The thing that I hate about us having to play in state schools is the risk of players being injured in a meaningless game...

Agree 100%, but it’s the only way to get 7 home games every year which is built into the athletic department and Clemson community budget.

That man funneled more money to Furman than the Chinese funneled to the Biden crime family.

I've heard this for decades but never seen the statute. Is this real or is this urban legend?

Dabo plays one basically every year. During his time we've played them all:Furman, Citadel, Wofford, PC, Coastal and State

Not FCS teams

SEC does the exact same thing. We always schedule 2 power 4 out of conference teams including the coots, one group of 5, and 1 FCS.
It's worked pretty well. And it guarantees us 7 home games

We’ve had this schedule formula for decades. South Carolina, a power 4-5 opponent, a mid major, and an instate FCS team. Every single year!
It’s a great chance for our guys who don’t play. Lot to get in and gain experience.

Kinda wish we didn't have to wait 'til 2029 to play y'all again. (But at least once we get there, we do play 4 times in 5 years: scheduled in '29, '30, '32, & '33)
