Is powerful O better than similar D? Stats show this.......

As of 11-27-12 the #1 Team is ND with #2 defense...and #2 Team is Bama with #1 defense. Case made!!
So DABO...get with it and stop recruiting so many 5* WR's or RB's..and git some big fast mean Linemen, LB'ers & DB's too. You've got the QB's for the next 4-6 years I believe..so you know what to do.
And, don't look so far..just check out the local boys who want to hit, tackle & win for Clemson.
GoTiGERs..."STAND UP UNDER FIRE" and win!

Good offense can beat good defense, IF you compete on the LOS.

against division rival lsu. i saw a tamu team jump out to a 20pt 1st quarter lead and then hold on as bama stood inside the 10 with a chance to win.
you can pick onesies all day long, but the only hunh to win it all has been a cam newton lead auburn. i think the vultures are circling that program right now because of it.
i believe on any given saturday team a might rise up and beat team b, but by the numbers, big boy football seems to be winning more championships for now.
it might change.

So you saw a big OL move the ball and score when it had to?

Oklahoma, USC, Texas... right off the top, offenses that won or were equally responsible for MNCs.
I'm certainly not saying you don't need solid defense, but good offense can win games too.

and they lost to florida and lsu, both with insane defenses and offenses that lend themselves to their d by controlling the clock.
all those teams had great defenses with offenses that lent themselves to their d and visa versa.
auburn with fairly was a dynamic d, but i don't know if they finished in the top 50 nationally.
they seem to be the one team that managed a championship with a questionable d.
i'm not sure i follow you. as i said, yes, on any given saturday, but if you look at all those championships teams, i think defense is a premium.
except as was mentioned auburn.

Again, OF COURSE you need a solid defense to be elite.

But solid offense can beat solid defense too. I mentioned several examples of teams with prolific offenses winning MNCs in the last decade or so.

you used tamu. they can win with O.
tamu is 1 of 3 against elite d this year. that's a good avg in baseball.

facts show you need good offense just as much as a good defense. The elite teams have that, and that's why they win. Balance is what makes them elite.

arguing about?
you explained away 2 prolific defenses by using the tamu example.
tamu also lost to lsu and florida which makes them 1 of 3 vs similar styled teams.
is that good? i don't think so.
back to the op. bama's there, nd's there, but no prolific o. same as last year.
it would seem, that although a powerful offense can best a powerful defense, defense first[not only as you have suggested, but never by me] is the way to go.
the op would like to see dabo and this team focus on the dside for a while and i agree.
what's your confuse?

Again, good defense alone is not assuredly the answer. When you have a prolific offense, you can beat a good defense. And yes, a good defense can go along way as well. Simple football 101. I'm not sure where you're getting confused.

you seem to be the one confused.
i can't help what you wrote, i can only bring it back to the initial op.
defense > offense although yes, a good offense can beat good defense, just doesn't seem to happen without both.
where's your confuse?

I posted one example of how a prolific offense can beat a solid defense.
Prolific offense can beat equal or lesser defense, just like elite defense can beat equal or good offense.
You're implying good defense always wins. You're confused.

IMO, you need to have an above avg O and D. However, in the SEC games are won in the trenches. If you can't move the pile one way or another, or get pressure on the QB's good teams are going to run/pass over you.
Some of the highest paid people in the NFL are DE's or LT's.
