I think he's gone. The defense has been getting gashed the entire season. When it happens against The Citadel, there's a serious problem.

I do. He is ok as a DC not great. He does make better halftime adjustments than most but he overall isn’t that great.
For 99% of every offensive possession he has his head buried in the tablet. Barely talks to his players.

Kevin Steele? #### naw. His D’s were far more pedestrian than what we have now
I wasn’t fully on the fire Wes bandwagon but I’m climbing aboard now. I don’t care about the rushing stats from El Cid. I sat behind the bench with a perfect view of him. He doesn’t interact with his players. At best I saw Sammy Brown explaining something for about 45 seconds, the rest of the time he had his buried in the iPad with his players sitting there around him. He never really spoke to them while playing on his iPad for the entire drive
That told me he doesn’t care about what the kids are seeing out there. he doesn’t want to interact and coach them. He just wants to analyze to be able to tell his robots what to do on the next series.
He isn’t coaching. He is analyzing. He is like your 9yr old who can’t wait to pay his video game and has his head buried in it.
Coach Riley is the exact opposite. He wants to take in what his kids are seeing, how they are thinking and processing. THEN he looks at the iPad.

Dabo has proven multiple times he will make a change if he deems it necessary. Unfortunately, it won’t matter until he changes his stance on NIL

Our fans’ nonsense about Dabo and NIL has got to stop.
Others have posted in here that Dabo had authorized ~$359,000 in NIL money for previously-committed recruit Tae Harris. Harris had already played the back-and-forth bidding war for Harris with Colorado, which ended up with us keeping Harris as a commit.
GA Tech then popped up with a ~$500,000 NIL deal for Harris. Dabo considered the combination of factors, e.g., that Harris had previously played the bidding game war and then remained ‘committed’ to us + Harris again playing the bidding game to further up his NIL money.
Dabo said no thanks.
Keep in mind, this NIL battle involved a HS player who had not proven anything as far as his ability to be effective as a college player.
If this represents the ‘Dabo isn’t willing to change / Dabo won’t play the NIL game’ to you, then you cannot be helped.

He's not much of a play caller, but #### of an analyst which is what he has always done. My opinion, he's too valuable to fire but definitely needs to be demoted back to that role and get a Venables type play caller!

Dabo has a hard time releasing friends and that is what Goodwin is. He never should have been promoted to DC but you can't demote someone and let someone else be boss. The friction there will be too much. However, if Dabo does not bring in a qualified DC, expect more of the same next year.

He'll take it if he can't get the paycheck anywhere else that Clemson can pay him. Make him Co-DC and put him back in the booth. Bring in someone like Bryant Haines at Indiana that will light a fire under our guys!

Too many of our fans are of the belief that any DC who falls short if the once-in-a-lifetime Brent Venables (who, long before he finally departed from Clemson, should have been a HC somewhere other than Oklahoma), then that DC is a bum.
Goodwin has improved markedly from first half of 2023. He didn’t seem to make any half-time adjustments during the first (miserable) half of 2023 season. By second half of 2023, he was clearly making adjustments.
As for Louisville and Pitt games, it was both Louisville and Pitt that made half-time adjustments to Goodwin’s first half defense.
The heck part of Goodwin’s development will be to make adjustments during the course of a second half in which our opponent had made their own first half adjustments.
The other glaring deficiency is that Goodwin’s defenses telegraph their blitz packages. Maybe, I should say that Goodwin doesn’t use deception well enough when attempting to conceal a pending blitz.
Venables was a master at not telegraphing the blitz.

You had to admire Venables defense that did not allow Alabama to score a TD in 4 quarters and kept giving the ball back to the offense for opportunities

Also add Reed in the equation. we have had numerous bust plays with our Defense backfield that cost points. However, its tuff to play 45 minutes of a game like they had to do against Loserville.

The busts usually come from mismatched LBs or our incredibly slow safeties. Reed is the CB coach, and is absolutely ####### amazing. The coach for safeties is Mickey Conn, and we don't have a dedicated LB coach...just Pork Chop.

The guy running special teams should have been gone earlier in the season. After yesterday should have been asked to leave as soon as he got back to the locker room. I’m all for patience and no knee jerk reactions but things are on a whole other level bad.
A new D coordinator would not hurt my feelings either. You can’t stop the run against the Citadel there may be some bigger issues. I honestly could care less what style of running they do. We did not stop the basic dive plays for the most part. Love to know what Dabo really thinks about these 2. I know he wouldn’t call out anyone but dang on some plays we were not even competing.

I thought he did a good job last year. This year on defense seems weird. No emotion playing like robots. Maybe that’s on the leaders on D too. Where are the emotional leaders? The Louisville game was bizarre. It’s like the players were upset about something and just quit.

Players reflect their coach’s tenacity or lack of it. You saw that when BV was here. Now they play with Wes’ persona…just laid back and kinda nonchalant. We need someone who requires a “get-back” assistant because of their fire

He may be very knowledgeable but he has not been able to transfer that knowledge into solid gameplans all the time. I do think Dabo has already made up his mind as to which direction he will go. He is just keeping it to himself.
