Making my first trip down to cootland for the game this weekend… I’ll be with friends who are coots, unfortunately. Should I back out for my own safety? One of my coot friends says he’s going to gag himself and puke on me if Clemson wins.

Gagging, puking, sex in public places, trash piles, #### roaches and scores of mentally ill people. Yeah, it seems like a great place.

I personally will never go to that stadium again. I don’t care what friends I’m with. It’s the worst college football experience I’ve seen, even when Clemson wins.

It's a rough city with a lot of crime. The S Carolina fans are repeat offenders of having games stopped for debris thrown onto the field and at opposing players. Not sure if that answers your question.

No, it is not. Half of my family are gamecocks. This is just BS from a 1980s report, and this website likes to troll the capital city. It’s fine regardless of if the game is in Clemson or Cootlumbia. They’re just trolling you hardcore here like they have since 1998.

When is the last time that you attended a game at Willy B? I have a bunch of gamecock family members too that are totally embarrassed at the antics of some of their fans. Their former University President Caslen is the one that asked their fans to quit throwing stuff in the field. Caslen has not been gone that long. Go back and watch the past couple of games that we have played down there. Trash all over the field. Heck, Clemson even had a current player that two days ago stated that he learned to keep his helmet on until he left the field area.

I didn't grow up in the rivalry. I'm from Texas, so it was new to me. My first, and only, trip to Columbia was enough for me was for the game in 2007, which we one on a FG at the end of regulation. It's a dilapidated stadium, that rather than be located on campus, is literally in the hood and at the state fair grounds. There's no real, authentic atmosphere, the goofy train cars just remind you that you're on the wrong side of the tracks. Little brother syndrome is alive and well, and while the older fans aren't that bad, the young ones and students would fit in well at any sporting event in Philly, if you know what I mean.

If you haven’t been there since then they really have changed. It’s no longer a warehouse area at all. It’s full of greenery and trees and upgraded tailgating now. Granted it’s nothing like a Clemson gameday, but they’re at least trying to clean it up over there.

Each time got progressively worse. One of them SCar was not even playing Clemson, and I was wearing a non-partisan shirt. I have not been back. I have not lost a thing in Columbia.

I saw two people getting arrested, cuffed and put in the back of a cop car. That was 5 mins after I arrived. I knew it was going to be bad but I was glad it was a day game.

and while UofSC has spent A LOT of money trying to improve the game day experience (e.g., a giant chocolate chicken statute), it's akin to putting lipstick on a pig and the area around the stadium is still an industrial refuse heap for homeless vagrants and crack heads.

It can get really bad in the parking lots after the game when Clemson wins. I have seen drunks tear antennas off of cars and yell at Clemson folks.

Do not worry. Some of their fans will leave at halftime and most of the rest by the end of the third quarter. If we get them down early, do not let up. I still remember 1975. They deserve no mercy.

fairly classy and put on a good party. Where you run into trouble is in general parking, with the riff raff. If your friends have a cockaboose, or one of those fancy tailgating spots, then you're going to be fine.
