Is Cade NFL material yet?

Oct 25, 2023, 9:26 AM

Just wondering what you guys think? Too soon to tell? In my 23 years as a Tiger I only have Charlie Whitehurst, DW4 and TL16 as Clemson QB’s that had an impact in the NFL, albeit Charlie in an honorable backup role. So has me wondering outside of generational talent if Cade has the goods for the next level? What will it take for a future Clemson QB to make it to the NFL?

Well his story isnt told yet.
He could remain at this high ceiling/low floor level or he could get better as this year finishes up and have a solid junior year. Only time will tell.

Name me first and second rounders we have on offense. I count none.

Agree. Not sure if your comment was meant for me though...***

How about you give Cade the same chance you gave DJ for 2 years. Difference is DJ had a few better players around him and a much better OL.

Ngata was better than Collins, Randall, Spector.
Davis Allen was better than Brinningstool and would block.
The OL had what 2 guys get drafted or land in the NFL.

Give him either NFL caliber WRs, RB, or OLine options

CK2 is nearly NFL ready
His problem is his eyes. If he literally works on no look passing, he is elite.

He best attribute is his ball placement on long long throws

Oct 25, 2023, 9:39 AM

the offense we've seen so far is so dirt raid with mid-quality RBs that he is not being utilized to his skillset.

I'm skeptical because I don't see the arm strength

and that's not something that's going to improve in any meaningful way over the next couple of years.

He has plenty of arm strength. He is late on a lot of his throws and regardless of arm strength, he has to anticipate and lket the ball go sooner. Tom Brady never had the greatest arm strength, especially his lasy fewe years, but he knew when to let the ball go. Basically timing.

He has NFL talent if he can maximize his potential. I just don't believe he is remotely close to realizing his full potential. And I'm not sure he ever gets there. But I'm staying optimistic. He's definitely a 4 year guy. The senior version of Cade SHOULD be a lot better.

If he can hold off any competition for that long

At this point he is Kyle Parker 2.0.***

In high school at Westlake, he had a better supporting cast of players than at Clemson.

No, but he’s only started 8 games. Way too soon to tell. Tom Brady didn’t start until Jr year and threw 14 TDs and 10 picks but became the GOAT. Vince Young might be top 10 college QB but not in any top 100 NFL QB list by stats.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

No, I think Cade looks like he is still in High School with the decision making.***

Have you seen anything so far that would indicate that?

Like others have said…

Example: Let’s say after Cade’s junior year, you replace Tua Tagovailoa with Cade on the Miami Dolphins with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and their 2 extremely good RBs, and an NFL O-Line.

I believe it’s hard for Cade to fail with the right support.

We need to realize that Deshaun and Trevor were good, but they both had 1st round receivers, and multiple other receivers that were great.

Cade has almost nothing right now. Really, pretty much nothing around him. That is the problem.

Once Wesco and others get here, it will be better. But we need an O-Line and speed.

ALSO, Cade needs to hold a football every second of his life. He’s got to stop fumbling. I’ve never seen someone so loose with the ball. Not even DJ

I guess Steve Fuller was a little ahead of your time.

If I were a betting man, I would say definitivly not, at least right now. Not sure if coaches can teach pocket awareness, like Deshaun and Trevor had/have, and he doesn't possess the tools either of them do. Right now he sorta riminds my of Kyle Parker. If Woody Dantzler played today, he would get more consideration from scouts IMO.
