This is exactly the kind of thing that happens when a large group of drunken low IQ inbred trailer-dwelling rednecks are permitted to congregate in one small area.

Crowd control is serious business. People die when large crowds are funneled into confined spaces like that. Typical cootish management.

which is to breathlessly describe in 1100 words that which can clearly be described in 11:
"A bunch of kids crowded together early Saturday, and felt crowded."
The little blurb about having to go pee at the Waffle House or Bojangles, while intended to illustrate the chaos of the moment, had quite the opposite effect.
As a former journalist, I feel I can say such things. I also can say with some authority that the nature of today's journalism, whether mainstream or local, is to make you afraid of it, feel threatened by it, or be outraged over it -- whatever "it" is.

How true! But they are just following the news plan of Trump and Vance. In my neighborhood, the residents are of mixed ages (i.e., 30s to rretired) and are scared to walk on the city sidewalks, off their street. We've lived here for over 5 years and have walked our dog over a mile outside of our neighborhood almost every day, without incident. TV news scares the #### out of most people for no reason. During the BLM protests, one of my neighbors spent thousands on cameras, sensor lights, etc., based on scarey FoxFakeNews reports.. Then he told me, "When the MAN comes, I will be ready."
So far, he has caught some great pics of cats and foxes in his yard at night. HA, HA!

news scares people most of the time for no particularly helpful reason other than to make them addicts of that dopamine stress-reward loop (worry-solve-reward-worry-solve-reward). Keeps them tuned in, keeps those dollars coming.
As to the fact that the news has become so polarized as to be ineffective, yes, for those who depend on the major networks for their information, they're doomed to the above dopamine cycle.
But if you think CNN and MSNBCs and Mother Jones of the world *aren't doing the *exact same thing on behalf of the liberal agenda that FOX and Breitbart, etc are doing on behalf of the conservative one, you're kidding yourself.
In the end, American citizenship demands discernment. Depends on it, actually. And discerning voters do their own research instead of depending upon the talking heads to tell them what to think.

i thought it was a well written article by a student. Informative with direct primary resources. The video on instagram was a little less than impressive, but could have been hard to operate a phone camera when in the midst of true chaos.

The Pour Over just gives the facts with no spin. It's straight up, This is What Happened.
It averages a 5 minute read without popups, distractions other than a short blurp after each one or two paragraph stories that relates to God and His Word. Frankly, I read the Bible often enough to skip those and thus spend less than five minutes reading the news.
It's for those who refuse the political spin every other news source I suggest this might keep you informed without discouraging or promoting your views on politics. It's great for those of us who know that when Christ returns all the politics will come out with the wash.
It is exactly what I've described, nothing more and nothing less and it's unencumbered.

Then remembered that Ephesians 6 suggests there is an evil fiefdom in the air around us. And having spent almost two decades in news, I've concluded that news is part of that fiefdom, and is therefore of little efficacy.
News thrives on the worst elements of humanity. It feeds on crime, chaos, carnage.
All the Pour Over does is scrape-and-aggregate the sensationalized headlines, and then tell believers not to worry, God is in control.
What's the point of that. "Be afraid! But also don't worry!" It's a lousy business model. It's like handing an obese person a box of tacos with the number to a personal trainer scribbled on the box.

is those losers waiting in the parking lot of that dump at 4 am, watching that idiot miss the "field goal", then waiting until the game started, watched as their team was up by 17, rushing down the aisles of the stadium only to watch USuC miss the field goal. Gameday is a great exhibit for how overblown college football is getting. Pat McAfee, and overblown melo-drama like this join the likes of realignment, playoff expansion, constant transfers and NIL drama, hyper-focus on celebrity coaches and players (Sanders), and endless over-cooked hype from ESPN about everything they do all the time, whether it improves the sport or not.
I like Rese, but this is lame. And not just b/c Columbia is trash (although it is).

Combine that with the urgent need to post a selfie and be seen, and you have a recipe for disaster.
I do have a working hypothesis that the opened gate was near a dumpster and the “security” personnel just couldn’t resist.

Yeah Cootville sucks. The 2 games I've been to there, their fans are ultra violent. I wasn't even wearing any opposing team gear. I was dressed neutral and with other coot fans. Their fans still wanted to fight regardless. The filth looked like something out of the Walking Dead afterwards. I hate that place with every part of my soul. "Unsafe" is definitely the correct word for the shatted cesspool.

Seems like Clemson missed an opportunity to help the less fortunate. We coulda sent over our Fire Marshall, he woulda had them sorted out in 10 mins and then they could’ve had a nice, quiet, peaceful, college Gameday with 3 fans present.

"When Munshower finally made it into the pit, she was asking others if they were okay. Some people were still shaking, she said. While students were recovering, a person wearing orange glasses came on stage, she said.

In their defense, I lined up my freshman year at 6 AM for Gameday before the Clemson-NC State game. Kids pushing, awful crowd management, and got so squished I felt like I could not breathe. Miraculously made it into the pit with my sign intact and able to move around a little. Not just a Gamecock problem, but an entitled one.
