I am a lifelong Tigers fan. I enjoy reading all the posts but have always felt nervous to reply. However, this story about a man who has devoted his life preserving our freedom gave me courage to do so. I want to say how proud and grateful I am for Clemsons recognition of those who serve in the armed forces! On the eve of 9/11 I feel an especially deep admiration and appreciation for those who are willing to serve our country by laying their lives on the line daily. So tomorrow, as we stand together under a beautiful autumn sky and watch our Tigers run down the hill, let's all say a prayer for the brave men and women who fight to keep us free. Let's Go Tigers!!!

He was the platoon scribe. We both got meritorious promotions out of basic. Cool guy. If anybody out there knows him, ask him if he remembers Elliott from platoon 2027, PI.

Sgt Brown really had the biggest impact. When I became a DI, I realized how much of a machine he really was. A beast. Glad to hear from you brother! Semper Fidelis.

Brown was a beast. I can still smell his breath in my face and feel the brim of his hat on my nose, as I type. Love you Bro! Let's stay in touch.

What a role model for his two sons, all the young men he mentored in ROTC in high school and his many recruits in their basic training. I still have trust in the people of this great nation when I read about someone like this gentleman. So relieved to hear he went through his time in Afghanistan without any serious injuries. Thanks for sharing!

PI still smells the same, and if you close your eyes, you go back to being a recruit again. When I was a DI, I would get surreal feelings when the recruits were around places I remember vividly as a recruit. One grad, we staged seabags in front of my recruit squadbay at 2nd Bn. I got chills up my spine. Semper Fidelis always, Guns.
