In minority here but I do feel bad for the kid now

After two rounds it was enjoyable. But now after 3 I’m starting to feel sorry for him. I wonder which it is, more to do with a meddling parent or true concerns over lack of talent that is keeping teams away? He’s been served his humble pie. I hope he gets selected today as well as toning down on the arrogance his father no doubt instilled in him.

One would hope not but considering his stock, you’re probably correct

I might be with you but last night I also watched a video where during a press conference he basically said they only reason people (NFL) don’t think he is an elite QB must be because people hate his last name or his family.

A loudmouth QB with entitlement issues and look at me persona is now playing the victim card? I’d run away too if I was a GM or HC

And that’s before you have to deal with his father

That’s one of the things not getting mentioned. It’s one thing to deal with high maintenance players at other positions in the locker room. The QB is the leader of the team and the face of the franchise.

I've heard similar things. Saban and the rest of the ABC crew...

.... was saying it without saying it. They were basically accusing false rumors starting about the kid.

But, here is what I have heard on other boards and from other sources. Note, I have no way of verifying this so it is just speculation on my part.

1. He came across as the north end of a southbound mule in his interviews.
2. He came across as a spoiled brat who thinks he's entitled to a starting job this year.
3. He's never been coached by anyone except his dad, so he has no idea what it will be like to be coached by an NFL staff.

Now couple that with the football grade he's gotten.
1. He's small.
2. He holds the ball too long and is too willing to take a sack.

But it's mainly the first two reasons I listed that has caused everyone to pass on him.

I can see all of that, but not the being small. He is the same size as Montana, Aaron Rodgers, and Matt Stafford. He is ever so slightly smaller than Patrick Mahomes. All that other stuff completely makes sense.

His arm is not in the same stratosphere as 3 of those guys you mentioned****

His arm might be similar to Joe Montana's who was known for not having the strongest arm. Sanders isn't known for a weak arm either, but just not the strongest. Obviously Stafford and Rodgers have stronger arms.

Bret, I heard an NFL scout say almost identical things about his abilities almost a year ago, before any of these interviews. He insinuated that there must be a gene for arrogance because Sanders had it in spades.

its like what Brady Quinn went through when the media covered him as a top pick and then he had a long wait to be drafted and never panned out. It seems the hype machine stays there even if the draft pick hasnt come yet. All the media talk doesnt make you get drafted before a team wants you

If he can get his attitude right, I think he is a great pick for the Raiders right now. Not sure if he will be able to humble himself enough though. He thought he was something different. Even bought his starting left tackle a 200k car last year. He spent close to a million in cars. He is about to get a little over 4 million total, before taxes, for 4 years. Can he even concentrate on football completely, or will his image at brand be important to him? Anyway, if he can slightly humble himself, he would be great for the Raiders this far down to su the behind Geno Smith for a year or two.

Their stories are told and I highly doubt they care anyway. They are thrilled to be getting drafted and starting their new lives.

This is a perfect example of the difference between the NFL and college football. Despite the ridiculous focus on NIL, only a very small percentage of of college players have the talent to make an NFL roster and neither a name nor a school a kid plays for guarantees that chance.

Why? B/c his dad prompted the hype surrounding him?
