It is my understanding that Clemson has made several offers to players from the Portal in recent times. The fact that we got none indicates they don't want any part of Clemson's culture, OR they were looking for money we were not willing to provide them. Either way, I am ok with them not being here, given those conditions.

which is odd, because Dabo has been clear, the message has not changed, and his actions support this. Writers make money by generating views/clicks, which is why we have hot takes and misleading headlines. It's easy to fall prey to these tactics, but we don't have to, we can exercise common sense.

It would be one thing if Dabo's way was working, but it isn't. Since the portal rules changed a few years ago, allowing players to transfer without sitting out a year, we've underachieved every year.

30 wins out of a possible 40 isn’t that great for a program that spends what we do on football and has our history of recent high level success.
We’ve underachieved three years in a row. We’ve increased our number of losses each year pretty consistently since 2018. That’s not a good trend.

Apparently, part of our recruiting pitch is we don't grab players out of the portal to replace players currently on the roster. It allows us to get commitments from top tier players like Woods, Parker, Wesco and Moore without having a ton of NIL $ to offer. I don't believe we have the NIL funding to compete with Ohio, UGA, Texas, etc so we have to play our game...not theirs. The question is will we field a better team using Dabo's current method or try to play the NIL game in the portal like everyone else? Keep in mind fans are disappointed over the results the last few years but his was the result of poor covid recruiting, a couple of questionable coaching hires and two 5* QBs who did not (yet in Cade's case) who did not live up to their star billing.

Improvement of our roster through the portal would mean the Walk-ons and Daniel HS kids would have to go to Furman, Wofford, S.C. State, etc. and would bring that superior talent back to Clemson in the fall and beat our brains out with it.
Under the current system of no portal upgrades, these games will be more competitive and another NATY is but a pipe dream.

Our roster is elite. Need a QB, who we will not be transferring in. It’s two 5 stars battling for the position. That’s all we need and the entire offensive personnel will be instantly better. Without a QB it won’t. That’s all.

Well I don't feel as desperate to use it this year as previous...I think we have a stout roster and a great freshmen class. Now if we struggle again I will definitely be all over Dabo for not getting some more mature players.

And that is only 1-2 below. There are plenty of Daniel/ walkons on the roster. It is a myth that those guys are on scholarship though. We are no different than the other teams in the regards to walkons on scholarship - it is very minimal and a non-factor. Now do we have some talent misses and depth concerns at certain positions - maybe. I don’t personally like our QB room at the moment and OL is ? but Dabo seems to think he can make it work. I just think our ceiling is limited below the elite level by QB which means we have to rely on a great D to make up for it. Can’t afford injuries at QB or to certain OL.

I think many people here are concerned too, they just won't admit it. Instead, they publicly support Dabo without any reservation or hesitation, reassuring themselves that "we do things the right way" and accusing everyone else of cheating to justify our disappointing results recently.

It's just weird seeing so many argue that we're fine while we have regressed every year since the portal became a thing. We've been 3-4 players the last 3 seasons from making the playoffs. But we just don't get them. It just seems highly unlikely that we can compete for national titles while the portal remains a one way street for us.

that recruit at our level of higher, with stacked rosters have more than adapted to the portal but have improved their roster via the portal despite having a better top to bottom roster than we do? Many schools are finding (With Regularity) the 3 stars that were underrated, now developed through the portal and w/o risk of the unknown that accompanies the coming out hs prospect(especially 3*s) or big NIL money-

ECU didn't take transfers....
With Joe Cain poised for a Heisman campaign and freshman 5-star RB Darnell Jefferson, they didn't need anyone from the portal.
Their biggest matchup is vs Michigan and "he could go all the" Wayman.
Great film, and I miss Chris Berman on SportsCenter. He was cooler than the other side of the pillow.
