All these people that love flipping people off bc they're not driving to suit them, they better start wearing a set mitts while driving to hide their middle finger or they will get it blown off. With a mitt, it will look like you're only waving

In which of these do you feel so unsafe that you wish you were strapped?
"There are restrictions of where an individual may carry a gun, such as hospitals, doctor’s offices, churches, many government buildings, schools, polling places, detention facilities, post offices, or personal residences without permission.
However, some places, such as churches and doctor's offices, may choose to allow individuals to carry weapons onto the premises.
Businesses have the right to label themselves as a gun-free zone."

In a hospital your chances of survival would be greater if you were shot, and that is why they wouldn't want you carrying in a hospital, that would defeat the purpose of being strapped

Georgia law is a much better law. Wish SC had copied it. Can carry in churches and businesses. The "weapons free" or "no firearms on premises" signs have no legal recognition under Ga law. Signs mean nothing. For SC to be so conservative and Red, our politicians are afraid of true pro 2A laws for some strange reason.

right, it is all fun and games until and inmate takes it from and starts shooting the place up.. Thss is the exact reason that even law enforcement NOT is allowed to carry guns into prison. Some of you are so blinded by your love of the second amendment that you do not apply common sense when it applies to gun safety.

Carried one for years, now for the first time we are gonna have some people out there with open carry who don't have the training, mental sagacity or calmness to do so. I think everyone should have to go through a training class to make sure they are competent enough to have a handgun!

I like the training requirement and took mine to get my CCP. I dont like paying the county to do a background check and issue the permit. My reasoning is the right to keep and bear arms is the same as the right to vote. To bear arms we need to pay for the class, pay for the permit and provide all types of background info yet we can't even ask for a valid state issued ID for voting purposes. Seems out of whack...

I was driving tractors and farm trucks when I was ten. Yet I had to wait until I was 16 for the government to allow me to "legally" drive. The DMV is a useless organization that moves at the pace of a sloth. Licenses and fees are are nothing more than governments way of taking your money and giving it to someone else.
Laws passed by politicians as agents of the government are a means of control making citizens petition the government for the permission to do something. Notice I said permission, the government may or may not grant you permission.

I went through the training, completed the background check, and got my CCP years ago. I wholeheartedly support that process and firmly believe the new law is terribly shortsighted. No one is encroaching on a persons constitutional right to bear arms, but in order to conceal or open carry, requiring training and background checks is simply a more prudent approach.

about rights. Think of all the rights they teach about in school, but not a peep about how to exercise gun rights properly. How many gun classes are offered at Clemson as part of the general curriculum? or do they offer anything at all? They used to do this in some states. We spent an entire week in jr high, in Maine where I grew up, on guns, gun rights, and gun safety. To my knowledge, not one kid from that school who attended during that time shot and killed anyone accidentally or on purpose other than one guy who committed suicide in his 40s. I am just saying that if 100% of Americans were trained in school about this constitutional right and how to properly and safely use this right then the only issue becomes a check to be sure that your right has not been suspended.
It just amazes me that so many who are worried about guns think the only remedy is to control possession. We can't even control the possession of banned substances and items from criminals inside of prisons. Is this what freedom has become...a very large penitentiary?
Pardon me while I run down to pee in the ocean because the sea level looks a little low today.

I actually took a Riflery class while at Clemson as an elective… It was actually a pretty great class to teach a lot of students who weren’t as comfortable around guns the safety side of things. Also got to shoot some guns I’d never get to anytime else.

I think they should have kept the laws as they were, just change the “concealed” part of the carry law to a carry law. Make people take the training for open or conceal carry. There were already a TON of people illegally carrying that don’t even know how to reload their mag.
Either way. I’m always packin.

I look at it this way. Any time they require a permit it is backdoor gun registration. Concealed carry permits are gun registration one removed...register the own. If there is a license involved it is no longer a right.

Permitless Carry only helps the law abiding to carry. Mentally impaired and those with no training were already carrying guns because they are called criminals. Laws only affect those that follow them. In my opinion your argument falls flat.

anyway. GOT IT! no that’s not what he’s saying. He’s saying that there are already plenty of laws in every state to prohibit criminals & mentally disturbed people from legally carrying a weapon, they’re just not enforced. Besides those people don’t obey the law anyway which gives them an advantage over those of us who DO. I like the background checks to purchase a firearm but not the CWP, mainly because my info including fingerprints go into a data base. And anyone who carries should have training but not as a requirement to carry a weapon.

I agree. I'm permitted as well and wish everyone was. I guess they all have to be open carry, whereas we can still conceal. Still . . . can police stop and ask for ID to see if they are legit able to carry? There are still rules and supposedly the crime is going to be much worse if you are not allowed to carry and you do.

"Wild West" already existed. Criminals don't follow laws which means they already had guns. Permitless carry only applies to law abiding people so now when you come to SC you are legally allowed to carry a gun to defend yourself.

The Wild West you see in the movies is kind of like the quicksand in movies. Not an accurate portrayal of reality. That’s why the OK Corral is so famous because it was so rare.

Great news, almost half the states are going the opposite direction by making it almost impossible to carry a gun , but you can go through the drive-thru and get an abortion. And since many of those citizens are moving to red states, there should be plenty of real estate available for you all. So leave

become a more mixed bag of political opinions. A civilized society has compromise on laws, and that's what will happen as more people from the northeast move south over time. The next 15-20 years of state politics is going to be very interesting.
We can all get along.

Well said 1081. The problem today is most men have been neutered and care more about a manicure than manhood. Fear not there are 100 million armed citizens in the good ole USA. That's why government hates us and want our guns. "Aim Small Miss Small."

Yeah, putting more guns in the hands of people who should not have them is really something for our Legislators to be proud of. who would you say should not have them?

Last I checked driving a vehicle is not one of the rights given to me in the document that our government holds most dear, the Constitution.

And WHY is this posted in a Tiger sports board? Go elsewhere with this. Clearly you are excited by this topic. Take it out of here though.

Now tiger football players and fans can now carry weapons without a permit. Seems good to me.

I guess what that means is that in SC the department of corrections is one of the biggest industries. Allowing people to walk around with firearms strapped to them will help that industry to grow to double it's size in just 10 short years, but, it will also help to lower the population.
That could also be a help for new industry moving into SC, they could set up at one our prisons and obtain much lower paid help...
Permitless firearm policy could be a win win policy for the great state of South Carolina
