I’m so proud of DJ Uiagaleilei.

He has handled his time at Clemson with such grace and class.
He’s had a LOT thrown at him. Not only did he move across the country to go to college, but he did so with huge expectations as an elite QB. Then he dealt with this new era of NIL with some big endorsement deals and the pressure that comes with that. Plus, he had some significant personal issues to contend with. He did it all with a maturity beyond his years.
I’m sorry that he didn’t have the success on the field he would’ve liked, but he won games for us and was an incredible leader.
DJ will accomplish big things. Thank you DJ!

Hate that his family life turned out so. No idea how much it affected his QB play, but glad we have a better QB going forward.

Just the DJ cheerleader I was waiting to hear from. Can’t admit when you’re wrong, can you? I like DJ. He’s just NOT a D1 Qb. Sorry. Lots of respect to you except for the blind cheerleader aspect. Dabo pulls him 6 games ago, Cade is maybe in the Heisman convo and poised to win Natty 3.

In fact, I’m piling up crow for Dabo, and many blind cheerleaders claiming DJ wasn’t the problem. Cade showed the receivers do flash open and make plays when given a chance. A statue can’t complete a pass. I’m glad Dabo finally had the balls to put the kid in.

You don't have anyone conduct themselves better than that young man. DJ has done just about anything that he could do to be successful. DJ could easily have been a distraction, but instead he is All In for the team.

This is an unrealistic expectation. Of course Cade is better. I have been saying bench DJ over and over. BUT.. Cade isn’t ready for the heisman. Freshmen don’t win heismans. Also, you seem to be a fan that expects national championship every season or bust. Like I said, Cade is the right choice, but not every team is good enough to win a national championship. But this program is in a lot better shape than it was in the early 2000’s.

DJ was simply a poor fit for our system. It's strange we never recognized this while recruiting him or made adjustments to fit his strengths.

Agreed, I honestly truly believe Dabo felt the team was good enough that they could overcome any shortcomings DJ had. He was never a great fit for the style of offense Clemson runs. To be honest neither was Trevor, he just had a bigger self reservoir of talent and was quicker on his reads. Trevor made it work even out of system, DJ didn't pull it off. He is just too inconsistent to make the right reads and throws every game. DJ is still a good guy, talented and may be better in another offense that takes advantage of his strengths, we'll see. I fully expect this to be Cades team now.

Don’t recruit him if he doesn’t fit your system, or you can’t make your system fit him.
I believe we did DJ a huge disservice. In a better system suited more for his skills, and with better coaching, he would have flourished.

It was coach speak and hubris. He failed to admit DJ WAS the problem. He has to account for that. We should be playing for Natty 3. Klubnik is good enough. DJ was a bust. Period.

DJ is a gray kid with incredible character. I doubt I would have handled the fall from Grace as well. However, he was absolute garbage as a player. Stats do not lie. Talent around him made his wins total better than he deserved. Sorry, Judge. You should be able to see the facts. Not based on potential. On the field product. You know as well as anyone, DJ wasn’t the guy. Cade could be in the Heisman convo based on his sample size. Imagine him with 10 games experience! He made DJ look like JV. Reality check.

I’m a PsyD and refuse to diagnose DJ in public. I have no clue who you are asking, if it is me, I’m at a loss. Anyway. Crow. Eat it. Accept it. DJ isn’t the guy. I wanted him to be. He couldn’t make the layups. I’ve never seen clemson football so painful to watch except for Ken Hatfield backing a Natty contender into a 10-2 record. SMH. Blind cheerleaders then thought he was the second coming of Christ. It’s funny how I always end up on the right side of history. Hatfield. Bowden. Steele. I was called a Coot because i saw them for the losers they were. It takes realist to call out an obvious problem when others would rather blame circumstance. Tonight, Kulbnik showed we have a good receiver Corp. Eat your crow and own you were wrong.

I think he is an amazing kid I really do , I actually love the guy and wished he would have played like the guy we saw two years ago … he’s a great representative of Clemson University and the way he’s handled everything with class, especially all of the criticism. With that being said I think and REALLY hope fans will always appreciate dj and his effort and welcome him back bc in all honesty he did all he could here …. The issues and all the anger and stuff about hun playing should be directed at the coaching staff for continually putting him out there, which last year we had no option but it’s obvious this year we did and cade should have gotten a fair shot a lot earlier. But I appreciate the way dj has handled everything and the team mate that he was through the tough times and wish him nothing but the best , wouldn’t surprise me to see him play well the next 2 years in an offense that fits him a little better

Yet another poster blurring personal character with athletic performance. When you do this it only seems as though people are attacking the person and not the performance. This is a side effect of Dabos family atmosphere instead of a business like approach. There is a downside and we have witnessed it play out

I don’t view the criticism of him here as having anything to do with his character.
Dec 4, 2022, 1:22 AM

My point was simply that he is a great guy who has handled this tough situation with class.
I especially feel this way since much of his performance was the fault of him playing in a system that didn’t fit his skill set. He was done a disservice in some ways by being recruited by Clemson.
But he persevered and has been a great student-athlete who has represented Clemson well. And I wanted to thank him for it.

Exactly how I feel about him
Questions about whether Cade should have been in or not can be argued, but not with any resentment or ill will towards DJ. Personally, I trust what our coaching staff sees week in and week out.
I love the guy An amazing Tiger leader Nothing but gratitude for him choosing to represent Clemson so well
