When a Georgia writer told him that Clemson was a more natural rival than Tech and that Clemson was only 70 miles from Athens. Poor old Paul just never learned to read a map.

Wonder how that makes Clemson a more natural rival.

Because we are both football schools and various other reasons. Duke and Gtech would make nice rivals.

Geographically speaking, UGA is closer to us than any conference team we play and I think the natural rivalry is also created with the amount of recruiting we do in each other's backyard, not to mention just a lot of history and great games between us. Certainly more than GT in all of those areas, although we have some good history with them as well.

A true rivalry must involve competition. The North Avenue Trade School hasn't offered any in a long time.

I think Tech's winning percentage against Georgia is higher than Clemson's.

It probably is and this game this year won’t help unfortunately. I’d say it would be competitive if Clemson had a QB. I’m a diehard Tiger and I’m expecting it to get almost as ugly as the FSU game last season.

Georgia Tech had 2 great coaches. Heisman (who they hired away from Clemson) and Dodd. Without those coaches GT is a below average program.
GT has played far more home games against Georgia than Clemson. Clemson has faced Georgia at Clemson in 21 of 61 games.
Georgia has played GT in Atlanta roughly 1/2 of the 110+/- contests.

What Georgia writer was that? Several writers based in the State (particularly those associated with the AJC) dislike UGA. But if distamce is his primary/only criteria, according to Google Maps, UGA is exactly 70 miles from both Clemson and ga tech. (and FTR, I'm glad to see the rivalry renewed this year, and a few more after this year)

they hate the ajc for reporting on their alcohol and drug fueled foulness
which is really just called “reporting” on typical behavior in Athens
the university is even more liberal than the ajc - astounding
even more astounding than the throngs of redneck cousin kissers that support such a liberal institution
guess “me maw” was a dawg fan

Yep. Be curious to see who is arrested before game 1. Good for 2-3 a year. Lord knows by their grad rates they do not go to school.

There isn't a media outlet in the state that doesn't slavishly kiss UGA's ###....AJC included. It's on the level of Tennessee media with UT.

Once upon a time GT was competitive and we had some great games. Ga/Clemson used to be a yearly deal and was huge in the 80’s. Not so much since Ford left and conferences grew.
