Of playing non power 4 non conference games and either adding more conference games or playing more power 4 non conference games. Don't we have to play at least 1 small SC school by law. Gotta find a better solution for these smaller school to get a little bit of money to help with their athletic programs. Get hyped every year for football season until we have those weeks of playing cupcake non conference games even though their is a certain benefit to those games being played. How about teams like Bama and ugay schedule more non conference games that take place outside of their respective states.

we play one small state school out of respect for the small programs in the state and to keep as much of the gate money in-state. there is no law that requires us to do so.

I'm glad we keep the money in state by playing SC schools. However, we need to stop playing these power schools on the opening game. As we have learned, you lose that game and you are disrespected by the media. Especially if you lose to an SEC team.

What's the incentive?

W/L record is still the primary driver in the rankings so playing an easier schedule is more beneficial. If anything, I think you will see SEC and B1G programs scheduling even lighter OOC to avoid potential losses.
