Well I don't have a good shoulder but if all we're going to do is make ten yard completions, sign me up. I don't need a scholarship; I'll walk on. I feasted in the family Thanksgiving flag football game on little short crossing passes no more than ten yards deep.
Cade, if you're scared, just say you're scared and let him try somebody else.

Now how many plays was there an open receiver in that red box? Let’s tell the whole story.

I think Briningstool dropped one in the red box early in the game

How is that possible if the chart above plots ALL of Cades throws? Thst throw was only 6-7 yards from the LOS

everyone that ever gets thrown to is always open. We've been ignoring the middle of the field on a routine basis for several years now. I'm not even talking about deep vs. shallow routes, but just middle routes. Its' been a conspicuous problem for a while. Has no receiver been open in the middle of the field for 4 years?
None of this is to say that they are doing a good enough job getting open, but nor are they anywhere all the time, but we still throw there. If the coaches' solution to middle routes being unavailable is to give up on them and slice them out of the gameplan, then that's lame in the extreme.

we are paying a guy several million a year to design rinky dink nickel and dime carp like that. That we are dumb enough to do that is laughable

This is the real story . . . NOT the portal . . .

I'm not even arguing whether or not Dabo's portal philosophy/practice/tendencies are good, bad, ugly, acceptable, doomed to fail, able to succeed, or any of that. The real question is, and always has been, is Clemson doing as much as it can with what it does have. The portal is secondary to that. If Clemson isn't maximizing or coming reasonably close to maximizing its talent, then all else will be band-aids at best. You can't call a game like that, yield graphs like that, and expect D's not to notice and react accordingly both in their execution and game-planning. And when you do, you'll have results like we've seen.
A game plan that results in that kind of absurd imbalance is, strategically, overwhelmingly and alarmingly stupid. This is exhibit A that the play-calling is not fine - not even serviceably decent. And this general pattern of ignoring that part of the field is not rare for Clemson recently, even if the magnitude of that particular game was extreme specimen.
Furthermroe, when 80% of the criticism after the fact is about the portal, then the critics aren't paying enough attention. Forget the portal for a second . . . could they be doing more with what they have, and by a lot? If the answer is yes, then we haven't yet reached the level at which the portal is the most salient issue.

GR is not handcuffed. He calls his on plays and makes his own game plan. Now the guys that came before him, that’s another story. Dabo was all over them, especially the last couple of years

20 of the 29 attempts were less than 10 yards with 6 of those behind the LOS. Middle of the field was no man's land. Crazy!
Don't forget to look under your bed and closet floor.

Isn't Streeter still on uga's staff? We are all surprised the uga defended us well when the plays are exactly the same?

It makes the passing game pretty tough when your offensive coordinator refuses to use 3/4 of the field
I have never understood why Clemson doesn't utilize the middle of the football field more often

We don't have a possession receiver ( renfrow ) and Briningstool is too light to continuously go across the middle and not get hurt. He needs 30 more pounds to be competitive. Been saying this awhile now.
How about we try the new kid , Betancourt (sic) and find the next Renfrow
