Ive never been more disappointed in Clemson football

This year was supposed to be the year. We hired what everyone, including myself thought to be a stellar defensive coordinator, had majority of our starters returning and a schedule set up in our favor to return to the CFP. Cade was coming off a very good Junior season, we used the portal to pick up a receiver and defensive end that could compete and all of the talking heads were high on Clemson. I wagered pretty heavily on Clemson to go over 9.5 wins and thought for sure we’d make a return to the playoffs.
I couldn’t have been more WRONG. We are going to end up 4-8 and lose to the ##### for the second straight season to top it off. I would also say that if we do not pick up a QB from the portal that we are going to lose Wesco, Moore and maybe Davidson on offense. I can see how next year will be any better. It’s probably not the end of Clemson football being relevant, but it sure feels like it.

I don’t pay too much attention to Dabo when it comes to analyst of his teams, he’s always been a sunshine pumper. But I thought after watching the Texas game last year that fixing our problems on defense with a new coordinator we’d be a contender. It’s just frustrating. I don’t understand how so many of our players regressed so much from one year to the next instead of getting better.

we went 0-3 vs P4 opponents last year
we went 0-3 vs P4 opponents in 2022 also
we're 1-8 vs OOC P4 teams with 8+ wins since 2021......Last year's stats and numbers were against a pathetic schedule.

In those losses, how many games did we lose due to poor execution on defense? The whole mindset of the defense changed when BV left. The Texas game I watched was Cade making good decisions against a very talented defense and Moore making contested catches. The team put up a fight against Texas and I thought with a new DC we could put this team together with the talent returning. I was wrong.

This is not hindsight, I was never buying the National championship hype, however, I did think this is a team that could compete for the ACC championship. Boy was I wrong.

100% agree. I don’t think we’ll be able to get the players from the portal that we need coming off of such a down year. It has always been about qb play with us, and if we don’t land one that can start immediately it will be the next head coaches job to put us back in the contender category.
