If you were Head Coach for a Day

What would you do if you were Dabo for a day? Different QB, different OC, different WR coach, transfer portal, white helmets (JOKE), absolutely nothing? Let us know. We mentioned a couple things that we think needs to or could happen this offseason on the podcast. Give it a listen by clicking the link or looking us up wherever you listen to podcasts at Tiger Brothers Pod. See you in Charlotte.

I would refuse to play 12:00 home games! 1:30 or 3:00-4:00 KOs!
I would instruct punt returners to field the ball out side of the 10 unless sure it is going in the end zone. Especially after previous punts were downed at the 3 & 2.

1) Rehire Jeff Scott 2) Tell DJ if any two series that go back to back with no scores he sits.3) Instruct Brandon to work with DJ on his timing routes because I would tell Brandon one bubble screen, or behind the line pass and he would be demoted back to QB coach. 4) Tell the WR's to expect some deep balls so you had better be ready. 5) Run more.6) Work on special teams play.7) Hire a new strength and conditioning coach. That would enough for one day.

I would tell Neff to get a basketball coach worth a crap in here, so we can get the atmosphere back in Littlejohn or he's fired. Football skill players 2nd love is the sport of basketball and I've noticed the longer Brad stays past his expiration date the more mediocre our football skill has gotten. As football coach I would have to have an atmosphere in Littlejohn for when recruits are here on a visit.

If I were head coach for a day ........ I would quit!
I try to surround myself with positive people with positive attitudes. Life is so much easier that way. Why would anyone want to be in a position where there are thousands of people who know more about your job than you do? Enjoy the moment fans.

Chrome helmets, more purple in general.

For no other reason than to #### many on TigerNet off.
Clemson has a couple of national championships in my adult lifetime and just came off a long streak against c0ckland. I’m still happy as a pre-Easter dinner hog.
What I want now is more purple.
My three years of high school sometimes starter often times not career did not prepare me for any other decision making with a preeminent FBS program. I’ll let the rest of the brain trust here in TigerNet figure out the solutions and strategic plan Dabo needs to implement.
I just ask for the final PowerPoint be sent to me when it is complete. It can be emailed or Slacked to me. Either is fine.

I’d probably deposit my $30,000 of daily wages into a total stock market index fund.

I would do one of two things initially:
Nov 30, 2022, 8:21 AM
|
|
1. Take the entire offensive staff for an in depth visit with Josh Huepel at Tennessee to learn how his offense works. We are in desperate need of putting some "innovation" in our offense and can think of none better than what Tennessee is currently doing.
OR
2. Demote Streeter to offensive analyst (or find him another job at another place) and hire Tennessee QB coach Joey Halzle as our new offensive coordinator.
Whether I do #1 or #2 above depends on what I see as the main problem with our offense (i.e. coaching or scheme).
Remind DJ that our commitment to him was "until graduation do we part". Come December we will have met that obligation and while he is welcome to stay we are moving forward with Cade as our starter in 2023. We will be building a revamped offense around Cade and should DJ want to transfer I would fully support him in doing so but should he stay his role will be "backup QB".
Put Tyler Grisham on notice that his WR group is under-performing. Don't care if the talent was recruiting misses or not - it is his job to get whoever he has to a high level of performance and that ain't happening. If he wants to grab a guy from the portal then I'll support it but either way the WR group must show significant improvement in the coming season or he is out of a job.

Several things I would consider/complete if I was the HC 1st day of the off-season:
1.) I would call Jeff Scott and immediately offer him whatever position suits his fancy to get him back to Clemson and instantly impact our recruiting efforts.
2.) I would help Brandon Streeter "look for other opportunities" at a different program that better suits his play calling abilities.
3.) Make Calls to the following guys about an OC opportunity: Willie Korn, Garret Riley, and Phil Longo.
4.) Kindly show Grisham the door with a firm kick to the rear end. Either give WR coaching role back to Jeff Scott (if he wanted it) or pursue a bonified WR coach from another P5 program.
5.) Retire Pearman, and put someone over portal duties that actually has interest in screening potential impact players and extending offers to those who could help mitigate roster turnover.
6.) Bring on one or two additional "seasoned" analysts (1 for each side of the ball).

I would hire Jeff Scott back. Then I would consult with him - and staff on gameplans for UNC & Bowl.
Over the off season, I would send my offensive staff to meet with the five most innovative O Co-ordinators across the country. Then we would all put our heads together to liven up our players and put them in their best situations to succeed next year.
