and somehow ended up watching the first episode of Band of Brothers. So of course I'm now on like episode 7 and will be up all night.

Its great. Then you can start on The Pacific. Same writer and director, not sure its a sequel as much as happening at the same time but its really good as well. I probably liked BoB a little better but they are close.

If you are asking me, it is called 'The Pacific", it is very similar to BoB but obvious location change. One review says its a sequel but I think the series just came out after and not sequel. I watched them far enough apart but there may be some Generals or something that moved from Europe to Pacific. Both series are superb. I think they are on Netflix now.

'The Pacific' gets a little darker in some areas but makes you feel part of the fight like BoB does.

Thanks very much. Just finished reading Nimitz at War. Great look into how and why we conducted the war the way we did. Besides, I wanted to see if my dad was mentioned in the book. He always told me he and the admiral won the war in the Pacific. 😂 Didn’t see his name mentioned? 😂

I was in the VFW with a lot of those guys years ago. Both of these shows give a pretty accurate peek into the hell that they went through. Gunny in the Pacific reminds me of a lot of the guys that have passed on now. His zippo lighter and how he cherishes it, brings back a lot of smiles. On a side note, I had a good friend ( Francis S. Currey) who received the MoH. During a ceremony one time in Washington, George Bush was introducing him and called him a Medal of Honor winner. Frank, when he got to the mic stopped the whole show and gave him a lecture on the di9fference between winner and recipient! lol (The Basilone speeches made me think of that.)

Yep, just finished it myself last week for the umpteenth time. Don't have the attention span for episode 6 anymore, but still riveted by the rest.

any more... check out The Two Ocean War by Samuel Morison. My ex-wife bought it just because it was a good looking hardback book for the fireplace mantel. Fascinating detailed account of the US naval conflicts in the Atlantic & Pacific. Couldn't put it down.

One of the best series I’ve ever watched. Wish I had just stumbled onto it. Enjoy. Pacific good too but nowhere near the same.

The series was too! I am big WWII buff as my Grandfather was a Master Chief on the USS Tambor and fought in Midway.
