If we get past New Mexico

I’m telling you, none of the teams in our bracket are anybody that we can’t beat.
In fact, teams like North Carolina, Baylor, and Arizona are all even vulnerable to being upset before Clemson would play them. And especially Alabama against Pat Kelsey and CofC
New Mexico honestly is the most dangerous because they have the chip on their shoulder. But so does Clemson because we’re actually not favored to win it.
Baylor has some really good wins this year, but I don’t think they’re as good as a 3-seed. We got a good draw on the 3-seed in this bracket.
Arizona has been underwhelming as well. Caleb Love is the biggest issue to deal with, but again, if Clemson is playing at its own highest level, it can beat Arizona every day of the week.
Alabama we’ve already beaten.
And obviously we’ve beaten UNC on the road.
Besides Tom Izzo, I don’t see any elite coaches in our bracket. Which is one of Brad’s weaknesses.
New Mexico is toughest to me because we will see if we’re going to be able to click and deal with the bright lights. Is Chase Hunter going to be able to score? Can PJ make his 3-foot shots. Will Scheffelin rebound?
But if we come out rolling through the first and maybe second game of the tournament like in 2017, it really does set up well for us. Until we would get to UCONN.

The committee really did us no favors putting the toughest team as an 11 seed.***

I dont think anyone doubts that we are capable of beating these teams.

We absolutely are. But it’s not just about having a good game, it’s about stringing together multiple really good games in a row. Only a few teams in the country at most are realistically capable of that.
We aren’t playing at the level we were in December. We need to get our mojo back. We did in 2018, when we limped down the stretch of the regular season but turned it around and made the Sweet 16.

I will be honest, it does remind me of 2017 a lot.
A lot.
A team that has really good shooting and really good rebounding when they are playing at their best.
Looking back on that ACC tournament in 2018 when we lost to Virginia, it honestly maybe could’ve benefited us to have a few more days to rest up for the big dance. Shelton Mitchell was getting better, and so on. I think that last run we made against Kansas was all we had left. We would’ve lost after Kansas because they were so tired.
So, maybe losing to BC and having a good amount of time to prepare their bodies and minds for this was a good thing. We may need the extra energy if we do end up in the sweet-16.
I’m just saying it’s not like we have Kentucky or Marquette or Creighton (etc.) in our region. Those are tough 2 and 3 seeds.
Baylor and Arizona are of course good teams, but they’re overrated to me. Baylor could even lose to Colgate.
Point is, it’s a favorable path for Clemson, compared to 6-seeds elsewhere.

We literally have Joe Girard
Joe really is a Syracuse man, but he’s at Clemson and that counts for something.
Joe is 3rd all time in ACC 3 pointers made.
The next Clemson player in that list is KC at #19.
PJ Hall at his best can provide 20+ points.
Fact that you basically said Joe Girard isn’t close to Gabe Devoe is wild.
Gabe obviously played a humongous role, but so did Marcquise Reed and Shelton Mitchell and Elijah Thomas. We weren’t there just because of Gabe.

DeVoe could creat his own shot

Not to mention we don’t have anyone close to his passing and ability to see the court. Those qualities are what made the rest of that group come together so well. We just don’t have that level of all around playmaker on this team.

Roybus, I should have warned you that you would be scalded. Most people on the board want the narrative that we have the toughest path to the final four. The committee screwed us. But I agree with you.
If you told me we are a 6 seed and I were allowed to put us in any bracket I wanted, this is where I would place us. Are we saying it’s easy? No. But it’s the best draw of the four brackets for us. If we don’t beat New Mexico, then that’s on us. The game is basically considered a toss up but if our strategy is good and our players execute, then we should beat the Lobos.

Well I mean I don’t think those people know what they are talking about then. And I’ve lost any care of getting scalded anyways lol.
UCONN region:
2 seed - Iowa State - maybe the best 2 seed in whole tournament
3 seed - Illinois - A big physical BIG10 team that we’d probably lose to
4 seed - Auburn - Won the SEC Championship playing its best ball
5 seed - San Diego State - National Championship appearance last year
Houston region:
2 seed - Marquette - Shaka Smart and this team are very good, maybe Clemson could but harder than Arizona.
3 seed - Kentucky - Yeah forget about Brownell beating John Calipari at any point in his career.
4 seed - Duke - Yeah okay they are beatable
5 seed - Wisconsin - BIG10 champions and beat Purdue
Purdue Region:
2 seed - Tennessee - Vulnerable
3 seed - Creighton - I’m high on Creighton. They’re athletes are top notch scorers and they’ll could make it out that entire region.
4 seed - Kansas - Actually will probably make a first or second round exit. Hunter Dickinson out for first game and McCuller out for whole tournament. 2 best players.
5 seed - Gonzaga - Vulnerable, but Mark Few!
I would say the Purdue region would set up okay as well with the 2-5 seeds, but then Purdue wouldn’t be beatable for Clemson in my opinion because of Zach Eddy and their guard play.
North Carolina being the 1-seed in our region works extremely well for us. We’ve seen them twice this year, and beaten them once in Chapel Hill.
So, in reality from top to bottom, the UNC region is the most likely for Clemson to make a run. That is if Clemson isn’t playing at its highest level, in which case they could probably make it through any of the regions. Clemson really is very good if they are playing it’s best.

That's how I see this also. We are in an excellent position overall with this West bracket. Being an underdog versus New Mexico is a blessing for our preparation and mentality heading into that one, and winning that first NCAA game comes with a load of confidence from there.
