If we finish with a 5-7 record, would we accept a bowl invite with our APR?

I think that would be more embarrassing than missing a bowl all together.

If you had asked me that a few years ago the answer would have been no. Just not in Dabo's nature. This season has been such a dumpster fire, especially considering preseason expectations, I think he probably would accept the invite. More practices considering how much we're losing in the offseason can't hurt.

Totally agree but I’m more so wondering if we would decline out of pride like UNC did with the NIT

I seriously don't think a 7-5 team should be bowl bound.

Many 7-5 teams will be in bowls. Some 6-6 teams will be in bo2ls. And maybe even a couple of 5-7 teams.
Because of how many bowls there are, mathematically, those .500-ish teams have to be included.

Just wait until the folks on here mount a fax campaign to get us into some pizza or auto parts bowl. Talk about Embarrassing. Tommy Bowden days are truly back!

I think it would be more embarrassing to accept the bowl invite. Would just serve as a reminder that a team picked in the preseason top 5 managed to get into some garbage bowl with a losing record.

That’s exactly what I think. What’s the point honestly? We can use the next few games as the extra practices with the guys for next year.

They have to take a bowl if offered. More practices, more TV time, chance to recruit the area.
So, yes, a bowl bid would be accepted even at 5 - 7. It would be a big win for a small bowl to have Clemson.

Me. I have friends in Birmingham. You guys are missing the point and are still of the mindset that Clemson is an elite program. The 15 extra practices st this point are of highest value. We are are about to enter a rebuild process. This is not a 1 year drop. This is a 5 year decline that has culminated into this disaster season..Folks need to check their egos at the door and prepare to cheer 5-7 to 8-5 to hopefully 10-2 or 11-1. This is gonna take 2 or 3 seasons to correctt. Even with NIL, Dabo has made it more difficult on himself with his anti NIL- transfer rhetoric . This season he brought in 3 and 1 is really playing. He has to eat crow and convince players from the portal to come here. Its not that easy!!

Half the team will be leaving for transfers before a crappy bowl.

Maybe we could play North Texas in the Mattress Mac Bowl in Houston? Or La Tech in the Independence/Weedeater Bowl in Shreveport. Then we could all be on the Roy Bus again.
