it has to impact recruits. The argument that "all we have to do is win and a weak ACC won't matter" doesn't hold water.

would love to have our record and go to any kind of bowl. And if we don't make it to a BCS-type, I certainly won't lose any sleep because a lot of teams going to bowls will wish they could go to the CFA.

had we taken care of the ACC, beat FSU, the ACC wouldn't have mattered. We did have a shot, just not nearly as much forgiveness.

A team that will projected to be in the discussion for a national title won't draw recruits.
A team that EVERYBODY will be talking about all winter won't draw recruit interest.
Some days, I wonder why we even try....

chik bowl although not as high paying or as glamorous as other bcs bowls would pit #5 in the sec T A& M & j. football vs tb. and clemson ..both teams solidly in the top 10.. w high profile heiseman candidates..bcs ain't gonna let no little chik filet bowl get that unless all contractual bowl / conference alignments are held to the letter..there is NO downside to clemson's circumstances

If we beat #5 SEC, we wouldn't get any respect, because its not an elite SEC team (and if its TAMU, they would say they are in the 1st season of SEC play and they have a freshman QB no matter how good he is).
If we lose, then we lost to the 5th place SEC team.

Clemson wins.. uSC goes to Peach, Clemson to Sugar against SEC TEAM....
uSC beats Clemson ..Clemson to Peach and uSC drops a bowl spot to the Gator bowl...

I have beern to a large number of Clemson Bowl games, and I believe that outside of the Orange Bowl my best trips as a Clemson fan have been to the peach bowl. If we are not playing for a MNC , then give as many fans a chance to go as possible!

because if Stanford wins this week, they will go to the PAC-12 championship game and Oregon will become yet another BCS at large team possibly bumping us out of contention.
