Many people hate Trump simply because of his demeanor and way of speaking in public. It’s so distinctive that dozens of comedians do excellent impersonations of him.

It is not unfathomable that someone so deranged as a wannabe assassin would hate Trump, in part, because of his annoying mannerisms. Yet, as you had observed, the wannabe assassin’s bullet may well have missed by virtue of those very same Trump mannerisms that so enraged him.
