Potential NFL early entries

The next few days will give us clarity. We face multiple losses on defense. Looking at them:
Shaq: A warrior who is clearly ready. No brainer
Dodd: Man, what a year. He's not a first day choice, maybe not even second day. Will be an interesting decision. I'd understand if he declared at his age. But his family situation is stable and if he could take a leap next year could play his way in to the first round. I think he declares, but wouldn't be surprised if he returned.
Mac: He's clearly ready. Family considerations play a major role here. Probably declares but he's an interesting guy. Slight chance of return
Tank: Like Dodd came from no where to have a great year. Some have him projected as high as the second round. I think another year and he's a first rounder. Has great CB size, better than Mac. Biggest off season decision for us I believe
Kearse and Green: I think both are gone, but both clearly still need work on the mental aspects. Huge talents but another year sure wouldn't hurt either
Leggett: Huge surprise he's returning. Our offense is an embarrassment of riches.
For those who declare, thank you! For those who return. Kick that door in next year

clearly a couple of dbs you mentioned did themselves no favors last night draft wise. not sure why it was so difficult to cover 88 but at least they were consistent about it

I thought Tankersley was the only one who helped his stock besides Mackensie for the time he was in.
He had a couple of really nice open field tackles. He was also really good in man, but he was involved in a bust

Too eager to come up in run support. For good reason,

of course, but still the DBs have GOT to play pass first. That wheel route hurt us in the ND game, too. You simply have to account for all eligible receivers.

Add Carlos Watkins and Ben Boulware to the list of those considering leaving early.

No chance Boulware goes. He isn't even considering it

Do you know Ben, or are you just winging it with authority? As of about a month ago, I heard that he was not ruling early entry out. However, I don't remember the source so I can't speak for the credibility.

Watkins should return

He came a long way this year but isn't graded that highly. Another year and he's a top 2 round pick. I can't see Boulware leaving. Ben's measurables are just not NFL talent, at least on the outside. He's a MLB in the NFL and needs that year there with us next season

We need his size and ability. I hope Fields can be the other starter.

If Tank returns I think we're fine at CB

between Fields, Baker and Edmund we'll find a partner for him.
At safety, even if both leave, I think we could be just as good if not better just due to the mental breakdowns. Not as athletic, but more disciplined. Van Smith is a player. Muse and Gibson are that big thumper back there.
I just know with Venables here, we'll find a way

Seems Baker is not able to put on weight.

He's fine in pass coverage, but not much help in run support. I hope Fields wins the job.

It would be really nice to return:
Tank Dodd Boulware Watkins Green
The others I think are clear cut leaving. But losing 7-8 starters if the above don't come back would be a tough one to swallow. I know we did it this year when we lost all that talent last year but it would nice to have the above mentioned return to help bring along our underclassmen some.

that's GREAT news. Tankersley has been tremendous this year. We need about 6 more like him and get 'em coached up fast. Can't afford to lose games because #15 doesn't know what he's doing. That ain't gonna cut it.

One silver lining is that some of these guys might be motivated by "unfinished business ". If we had won the game it might be a wholesale exit!
