The NCAA can only get more stupid if they put Jim Philips in charge.

Wisconsin is alleging tampering by Miami, based on the portal rules...that apparently don't really exist.
That's looking like it's going to be tough sledding for Wisky.
Wisky is withholding Lucas's transcripts. That sounds like a good way to lose a big federal lawsuit on one hand or to give Lucas more years of eligibility at Miami on the other.

I have an honest question because I have not dug that deep. Is there a contract for these NIL deals? And if so, does the contract state that the player gets to keep the money without playing? Or would he have to repay the money?
I really don't know and I am not trying to stir the pot

NIL contracts are year to year. The season is over. End of season and the players become free agents. The "portal" is just a made up concept that would not withstand a legal challenge. I am pretty confident that dropping out of school would void the contract. Accusing another school of tampering is certainly an NFL move.

The NCAA will be the real loser on this one.
Wisconsin is either stupid (probably not) or desperate (more likely) to rely in the wet-noodle NCAA to save them from losing the player.
All that the NCAA can do to help Wisconsin is to make enough fuss to stop Miami from playing the transfer guy during the 2025 season.
When (not ‘if’) the transfer player in question challenges the NCAA portal rules in the court system, then the portal system’s restraint-of-movement rules will crash and burn.
After the NCAA loses in court, then the only benefit to the NCAA member schools from the portal will be to alert the schools about the players who have formally decided to transfer.

I doubt it's going to help them. The NCAA loses every time anyone takes them to court.
If the NCAA tries to stop this, Lucas will sue, get an injunction, and suit up in orange and green.
You're right. The NCAA sham about the portal has been exposed as the lie that it always was.

It’s like the NCAA is attempting to stop the boat from sinking by filling buckets with water and then throwing the water back in the boat.

If someone is interfering with your contract, why couldn't you sue them?

Part of the problem is proving the damages that are suffered by the Wisky NIL group. Whisky’s NIL group doesn’t have to make the payment; if they’ve already made a payment before the signee cough cough provided the NIL group with tangible benefit. In other words, if no advertisements or personal appearances had happened using the not-yet-departed signee, then (depending upon how the NIL contract was structured) maybe the Wisky NIL group could recover that part of the NIL that they had already paid.
The player won’t pay a dime if he owes the Wisky NIL group for non-performance for paid services. Miami will pay that penalty on behalf of the recruit.
The Wisky NIL group would be challenged to establish how much their businesses were harmed. No way that Wisky will want the courts digging into their NIL farce.

Should come down to the language in the “contract “. If there really is a contract and it is not upheld then it sounds like there can’t be any enforceable rules regarding transfers. I guess next step will be in-season transfers that want to play right away?

The only way you change teams is to be traded or released from a contract. No player can just quit the Browns and sign with the Chiefs

This is a really slippery slope. I don’t think many people know what all really happened. I certainly don’t. But I heard he signed an NIL deal with Wisconsin (collective) then wanted to go to Miami. I don’t know if he was trying to keep all the money. I would assume an NIL deal is for the future and not for the past. God only knows what Wisconsin is claiming Miami did. Crazy times.
