Just learned that dentist office sick policies are based entirely on Covid,

which I guess shouldn't be THAT surprising, but it's also wholly incorrect. Went in for my re-rescheduled appointment and my regular hygeinist asked if I was feeling better after canceling last week. I told her I was, and confirmed yesterday that it was Flu Type B. The girl who was doing my teeth was like "wait, wut? You tested positive for flu yesterday? Let me go check if I can work on you."
She/they can't, because I'd had a positive test within the past 48 hours. That's how Covid works, but not just about every other virus prior to Covid. Remember the Covid adage, "once you test negative, you aren't infectious or transmittable"? You can test positive for the flu weeks after having it, but that doesn't mean you're infectious--it's generally when you're past the fever stage that you're not sloughing off infectious germs. Doesn't matter.
Now my appointment is re-re-rescheduled to next week. Shoulda kept my trap shut.

up in the lobby because in spring of 2020, she 'couldn't bear to take it down' so it got changed to a St Pats tree, then Easter tree, then summer tree (pink flamingos), 4th of July, then fall, then Halloween, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas again. Repeat for the last 5 years.
I hate it so much.

well you heard wrong, if 19 was wearing a mask would decrease chance, but that would make the dental visit a tad challenging

Here's the problem...

If you keep your trap shut, the dentist can't get inside said trap to work. It's a conundrum, multiplied by a quandary, wrapped in an enigma, and frosted with a delicious puzzling mystery.

...which leads me to my next suggestion.... pre-visit tooth extraction.
It's all the rage these days. Basically, you pull out all of your own teeth in advance of the appointment, bring them into the dentist's office in something like an old sardines tin (or a Vienna Sausages can, if you really want to let the people know that you're loaded), and then let the dentist go to work while you sit smug-as-shit at how you avoided their protocols.
Hell, you can probably just hang out in the waiting room and read Highlights while they do their thang.

No no no.
The best way is to just extract your teeth and mail them to the dentist. You could even send some teeth to one dentist and the rest to another to see how they compare. This of course assumes you’ve planned ahead and don’t need teeth for anything over a few days.

but then again I wouldn't expect a dentist to know that since they're not real doctors

Every time I go to the dentist I’m thinking it must suck to do what he does every day. I’m grateful for the occupation but there’s just no way.
