You understand that 2 conferences are going to pull out of NCAA in football right? That will be BiG 10 and SEC and I will guarantee Clemson, FSU and several other ACC teams will be in those conferences when it happens. They are not going to Big12

Big 12 is a non-starter just stay in ACC if that is the alternative

It is either SEC or B1G or stay put, but if we stay put, we need a new commissioner who has the vision and guts to transform the ACC and its media deals to be more competitive in terms of viewership and $$.
Yormack has shown it is possible to change the dynamic if the you just think outside the box and have the courage to take some shots. Why not sell advertising on uniforms, stadiums and playing fields to generate $$? Why not try to entice West Va and Texas AM and ND to join the ACC and convince all existing members to stay if we can secure a bigger, better media deal as a result? Heck, even go after UCF. Why not have value-based revenue payouts based on performance and how far you go in the post Season with a floor payout guaranteed for all teams? Why not have payout boosters for games that generate the most viewers and attendance?
There are so many ways to tackle the problem, but every day that passes, the window of opportunity to do any of these grows dimmer and dimmer. It’s really sad to see b/c it is due to a lack of competent leadership. Not one ounce of boldness in Phillips’ body. Just an elitist, smug, dour old man. He is the problem, not the solution. They change him out and put someone from Clemson or FSU in charge and the whole dynamics change for the positive.
Oh well, cest la vie. 😔

should get the "bonus" dollars.
And I don't mean a few extra million, I mean tens of millions. So much that the top three or four viewership kings are making close to P2 money.
Other than that - I agree with everything you wrote.

Well making postseason play matters too b/c more games being viewed and

If in playoffs, those really get viewed. And you get extra payouts for playing in those games. But the biggest $ generator is viewership for sure.

If Clemson ends up in the Big12 after all this all the university leadership needs to be fired.

If FSU & CU breaks the ACC, I would not mind it if the B12 and ACC merged assuming they could get similar levels of funding as the big 2. Cut the lower tier schools like BC, Cuse and others and the new conference would be viable IMO.

They won't get similar funding. That's the problem.

Clickbait garbage article based on a tweet from a guy who has no idea what he's talking about and is pretty much always wrong but pretends to be some kind of "insider". Why anyone would get their college football news from a website that's based in India and hires the cheapest no-name writers they can find is beyond me.

Leaving the ACC for that 31.7 per year payout in the Big 12 with absolutely no network would make zero sense. They even ended up with a million less than the pitiful money Jimmy Boy Phillips weakly settled for in the new playoff payout.

Well Big 12 gonna take time building back when Texas and OU left. Though UT screw Big 12 before with Longhorn Network. TAMU and Mizzuo pushed to SEC, Nebraska pushed to Big 10 and Colorado to PAC 12.

If anything the ACC should raid the Big 12.
Adding Houston, TCU, and Baylor would give us a great pod for SMU.
Kansas for basketball purposes.
WVU would be a great add for Pitt and another regional tie.
BYU & Utah are both quality programs too.

So you think adding a commuter school and 2 small private schools should be the adds?
Add Texas Tech and they will be the largest or 2nd largest school in the ACC and bring the Dallas / North Texas markets.
But your point of being a pod with SMU shows what a huge blunder it was taking SMU.

Not that I disagree with the idea but I'll take a hard pass on the schools you identified.
The last thing the ACC needs is more small/smallish private(ish) schools like Baylor and TCU. And Houston is basically USF -- a commuter college with marginal football success.
If I was under the impression that the ACC would actually do something right for football - Colorado, Utah, BYU, Oklahoma St, Texas Tech, West Virginia, Arizona and Arizona St would/should be the top targets.

The overall idea was to take teams with strong athletic departments. I don't really care who. It just beats the current idea of Clemson & FSU going to the BIG 12 (IMO).
Does not look like the BIG10 & SEC will be happening for us anytime soon.

I would not put too much stock on the idea that P2 membership isn't happening -- just like everything we hear/read nowadays, it is all meant to persuade rather than inform.
Be that as it may, the best option IMO would be to breakup the ACC and reconstitute it with only 9 to 11 football brands (mostly current ACC members plus a few B12 and/or an independent - wink wink). Do that and you can reset the pay scale to be close to P2 levels.

This is what is so incredibly frustrating how stupid the ACC and I'll add all the members schools who when OU and UT left the Big 12 NO ONE pounced on the top schools like Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and pick 2 more - say WVU and Colorado. It would have relegated the Big 12 and let the B!G kill the PAC and there would have been 3 top conferences and the rest.

The B1G won't take Clemson?
Aug 8, 2024, 1:42 PM

Clemson is a pearl die to being one of the regular top 25 schools in football which is the money maker. Any one of those 3 conference would delight to take Clemson. You can chit yourself but don't try to chit a Clemson grad. We know a bit about economics.
Either of the three would get a proper boost from the network which broadcast their sports. ESPiN doesn't want to lose rights to Clemson's and FSU's games and Fox would delight to increase its market share in national viewership.
