I know Davidson is coming, but I don't see ETN/ Spiller level talent or impact with him as a True Freshman. If no one steps up behind Phil, could you see Dabo finally going out and using the portal to fill that need? Good/ solid RBs tend to be like pretty girls: fairly common. You could probably go out and get an above average one without having to break the bank.

Green- #43 ranked running back in the country in 2023. The best offer besides ours is VT.
Adams Jr # (not even ranked) running back in the country in 2022. Best offer besides ours, Air Force.
We whiffed for two years in RB recruiting, so we are where we are.

I agree with him but NOT because of Dabo’s pressers. I learned not to depend on that back when “Kyle Parker could’ve started for any NFL team of his choosing.”
I think Adams Jr is going to be much better than most believe. He was a very impressive back in high school. He played at a high level in GA and excelled but got no credit because he moved out west and dominated in a weak high school league. Had he stayed in GA for his senior year he would’ve been a high 3 star at least, if not a 4 star. He is a man when he totes the rock. You will see. He won’t be whiffing on protections like Shipley and Mafah either. There’s a reason he’s been dubbed hammerhead!
The scat back type younger talent will emerge. We need Mafah to stay healthy but we’ll be fine.

EZ and Davidson will be a solid combo after Mafah is gone. We're fine at RB. I'm more concerned on finding a QB again with that "IT' factor

Keith Adams wasn’t a JR in 2019. He was a sophomore. And I can tell you with certainty that those in the know didn’t believe he was a power 5 back when he played in HS in Georgia.

He led all rushers in GA 7A football as a junior. You do know he moved to Utah as a senior right? He did not play in GA.

Not highly ranked? Davidson is the #3 RB on ESPN, 247, and ON3 recruiting. EZ was a 4 star as well on ON3 and Rivals had him the #7 RB. But Davidson across the board was very high ranked

So true. Since very few people have any real 'inside' information, we all just want to project our hopes onto the players. Maybe they will be a solid group or maybe they will be a group of average joes. Who knows? I am hoping for a Wayne Gallman type to emerge, but not holding my breath. We will know soon enough. My guess we will find out during the Appy State game if Cade can get us some points early.

I will say this and leave it alone bc folks sometimes don't understand to get a 5 star talent out of the portal and out of HS unless they are a diehard fan of the school they sign with. They cost a lot of money and the kind of money that Dabo will never agree to pay for a recruit!!!

Can we start the season and see what we have first before starting a conversation that you know is mute? Personally I think we have 2 or 3 that will step up behind Mafah. Besides biggest need will be QB and OL not RB. We have been absolutely wiffing at those 2 positions.

I have and as everyone knows stars don't always translate to stars on the field. I also believe that no matter how good your RB is, he is nothing without a good OL and if you can't make the other team respect the deep ball they will continue to stack the box. I never said we had superstars at RB, but I think that if we can keep a defense honest, we have 2 or 3 that can step up and get us some yards.
Also don't sleep on Kieth Adams Jr.

Adams Jr is not some unranked legacy scrub as PBT would have you believe. He dominated in a very high level while playing in GA. He was overlooked because he finished his high school career out west in a very weak league. He will be a load to tackle in the second level.

and incoming as to whether they would want to go that route in the next off-season. Dabo has shared this philosophy with the portal in the past - only Matt Luke seemed to want to look into additions this past cycle apparently considering the portal offers that went out.

ETN/Spiller level talent is not likely to be in the portal! You’re talking generational type talent. It does not come along every day. Mafah and hammerhead will be solid backs. Adams Jr will be better than most realize. If our oline can get him to the second level there will be a bunch of opponents saying “oh gotta tackle him again!” Had he stayed in GA, where he excelled in a tough league as an underclassman, he would’ve been a high 3 star at least. He was a 2 star only because he played his senior year out west in a weak high school league. But he was a big fish in the small pond as he should’ve been. He won’t have ETN or Spiller break away ability, but will be better at breaking tackles, short yardage and QB protection. We do need Mafah to stay healthy and need one of the young backs to emerge as a scat back, slasher or a break away speed guy. We’ll be okay.

ETN was average 4 star that we got late and turned out to be a 5 star Spiller was different, We have had other 5 stars fail Harper and Feaster,Demarkcus Bowman.

Definitely got to avoid recruiting/signing 5* producers such as Mike Bellamy. Can you imagine what he would get in compensation coming out of HS today? A poster child of why compensation should be connected to what you actually do not just untapped potential.

Historically dabo has done a phenomenal job of cultivating under the radar talent. I'll continue to put my faith in his abilities. Portal recruitment is out of the question.

The kid from Virginia that's committed is a monster FYI. I can see a few of the rbs on the roster turning into a solid rotational player. Might be rb by committee.
Also with scholarship limits jumping I can see Dabo actually using the portal to fill in his roster. If he decides to stay with 85 while everyone else goes to 105 then I might start sounding like the Judge Kellers and Pacific Tigers of tigernet.
