LSU's AD is an Idiot

"I made it very clear I was going to wait until the end of the regular season (to make a decision).
A decision on what? He has the highest win percentage of any coach ever at LSU! Multiple 10 win seasons.
What happened was two fold. Some big boosters wanted Les gone and Jimbo there (which is STUPID. Jimbo's players have more character issues than the county jail). They wanted Jimbo. Jimbo said no so they were left with their ###### in their hand.
Stupid all around by LSU.

How fantastic would it have been if Les came out after the AD's statement and announced his immediate resignation?

Wasn't the buy out like $15 M? Not going to happen. I don't think miles is a good coach like others said he essentially inherited the team he won nc with and has an incredible recruiting base with or without him. In fact I would argue his decisions in coaching are a large part of why we beat them a few years ago in bowl game. Don't get me wrong, love our Tigers and they played well but they were running it down our throats much of the night. Then inexplicably changes to passing which not only didn't work but saved enough time for us to come back and win. Thanks Les! He has won 77% of games since he's been there which is remarkable. I still think he's a Dufus though. I like where Dabo has us, has built our program the right way with time and character. 5 10 win seasons in a row and hopefully a nc soon to go with it. Go Tigers beat the heels!

Would Jimbo WANT to leave a really good FSU team to take on LSU job? FSU has a much easier path to success (with only one real rival at this time - US) versus the SEC West. Add to the fact that repetitive 10 win seasons just isn't good enough in Red Stick. Seems to me any coach would think twice knowing the pressure they already have imposed on anyone hired before they even GET to coach.

Reminds me of the Georgia folks wanting to run Richt out of town. If you fired the previous coach for "only" winning 9 or 10 games every year, who in their right mind takes that job? You're on the hot seat from day one

He really blew it. Made the school look bad in the national press. Lost the battle with Miles. And failed whoever the big donors are that wanted Miles out. Perfect example of how NOT to handle it.
He's a General without any army any more so to speak.

If i was LSU and could fire Miles cheaply i would probably

do it - IF i was confident i had a good coach lined up to replace him. Paying nearly 20M to can him seems absurd though.
I honestly don't think he's a great coach - i think he's mostly skated by with elite talent. LSU has a complete monopoly on a very strong recruiting ground plus they are right next to Texas and can pull some good players from there annually. They have the #1 recruiting class right now and like 11 of their 17 commits are from Louisiana. They probably had almost no competition landing those guys.
There are more players from LSU in the NFL right now than any other college. Some people will probably give Miles the credit for that, and maybe he deserves some, but i just believe that if you get a decent coach in there he will be able to get that talent too.
The LSU offense sucks. It's stale, it's outdated, and it completely crumbles when the power running game gets stopped. They never have competent QBs under Miles (outside of Mettenberger who transferred in). Les has made coaching changes yet the offense remains exactly the same. They haven't won more than 5 conference games since 2012. They aren't JUST losing to Bama (who has dominated them) - they've fallen to the level of Ole Miss, A&M, Miss St, and Auburn, and even Arkansas has beaten them two years in a row (both blowouts). There hasn't been much distinction between any of those teams over the last several years, and that has to stick in the craw of LSU fans.
SEC records over the last 3 seasons:
Bama 21-3 Ole Miss 14-10 LSU 14-10 Auburn 13-11 Miss St 13-11 A&M 11-13 Arkansas 7-17

Jamarcus Russell was pretty darn good in college. Don't let the NFL flame out convince you otherwise, he was fantastic at LSU.

Jamarcus was inherited from Nick Saban. Don't give Miles much credit for that.

Maybe so, but it's not like he was a senior with 3 years experience when Les showed up on campus. I'm sure Miles will make some changes in the offseason. Cameron's not the most creative offensive playcaller in America, that much is obvious.

He had LSU getting tons of air time and they are irrelevant.
Miles now has extra support and it reinforces the number 1 ranked recruiting class.

LSU. Miles thought he was gone himself, and LSU makes the decision to keep him during the 3rd qtr of their game against A&M. Never seen a situation handled this terribly. It's one thing to have internal discussions about making a change, but it's completely moronic to put it out there that a change is being made then change your mind during the 3rd qtr of the game on whether to keep Miles or not.
