devil, how he would destroy America....Take over the school system,destroy the churches, take over the health system,increase the debt etc.etc........well, it seems to me like Clemson has in a way, used his playbook.
I read a post the other day where someone said, Clemson has removed everything that set us apart from the other schools.....
1st...they killed Tigerama...Took it indoors,took away the emphasis from Fraternities and Sorrorites,etc.
2nd,stopped the release of balloons as we run down the hill....now it is not nearly the same.
3rd, unfilled the hill by use of the Jim Carney.
4th, began running off long....lonnnnng term donors who sat there through twenty years of so so seasons for the corporate donors who give big dollars but DO NOT GIVE A PLUG NICKLE ABOUT THE GAME ITSELF (JMHO)
5th, Ruined the GAME DAY experience with so many on field recoginitions and advertisements and announcements durin timeouts, that the band...THE BAND that practices hours on hours each week cannot play ANYTING that is not scripted ahead of time. NO more Katie going crazy durin Thw FSU beatdown in '03
6th, restrict parking more and more so that the average fan has to park in East Egypt and take a bus to the game...
7th, OKAY the selling of beer in the stadium during games....
All of those things set us apart...Zack Mills putting an old layback lounge chair on the twenty yard line and laying back in his tuxedo with a huge bottle of champagne as we stomped Wake at homecoming..the cheerleaders running our Paw all the way around the field...a couple of blind refs at the basketball game ( I bet they would be escorted out now)......
Anyway, I wish we could turn back time......

Amen brother! I was one of those long term (30 yrs) donors they chased away in 2010. They took my primo parking space behind Fike FH, twice, to give to some big spenders. They put me in some supposedly reserved lot that was always full when I arrived. As a result, I had to search for parking over a mile away and it was never guaranteed. I haven’t been back but 1 time since then. So ends my rant. I feel better now! 🤣

FSU used to release balloons as the spear was planted. No more.
FSU is requiring more and more booster money to be eligible to even buy season tickets, and down grading the section you are sitting in even though your booster money has increased. (Long term donors are given less and less priority.)
Parking lots are being lost due to increased infrastructure. (Indoor practice facilities, football only facilities, etc. have to go somewhere.)
FSU has just spent millions of dollars uprgrading the stadium (If you've ever been there you know it was long overdue.) The've added more high dollar luxury seats while at the same time decreasing total capacity by 12,000.
They are pricing themselves beyond what some boosters, who have been loyal boosters and season ticket holders for 20 or 30 years or longer.
But, everyone wants FSU to win. Winning means being competitive, not only on Saturday, but also in having the infrastructure to recruit (and pay) quality athletes, hire more and more support staff (coaches, trianers, chefs, scouts, personell management, etc, etc.)
That money has to come from somewhere.
Every school is playing "Keeping up with the Joneses."
It ain't just Clemson. It's Ohio State, Texas, and every other top 50 team.
It's sad. But, if you want to compete, it's necessary.

Times are tough. We made the Playoffs last year, set more academic records, are ranked in the pre season Top 10. No doubt Paul Harvey would say the rest of the story is the sky is not falling.

5. There are so many feel-gooders and do-gooders being recognized at every stop in play, just as you say, the meaning of any worthwhile accomplishments, and they are sometimes in the mix, get washed away in a corny cacaphony of announcer droning and crowd noise.
6. For $50 parking a mile away from the stadium is just another part of the game day experience.

We’re from basically the same time period, so I miss everyone of those things as well. My son who just got his masters loves the Gameday experience as it is. I’m sure in 40 years he’ll feel the same way we feel now. I guess we’ve just got to let it go… let it change, because change is the only constant.

You are correct that change happens but the landscape usually changes through evolution. Most people hate when a meteorite hits their house and since Covid, it's been non-stop change in college and many other things.
Bass lures have doubled in price in 5yrs and plastic critters have gone up 50%. My electricity is up 18% per KW since 12mos ago. I am using less power and my bill is up 15%.
The consistency in price gouging loyal alumni will eventually run its course and the days of college ball will be like the NFL fandom, 'Weekend Warriors' who ride the wagon when their team is winning.

Amen and amen. And unfortunately we all stood by and did nothing but moan.
I am being asked next year to pay $2900 for the privilege to buy 4 season fb tix down at the west goal line, same seats since 1975, when I sat through a 2-9 year followed by 3-6-2 but continued to pay all those years. It needs to get back to football for the 3 hours on Saturday and away from the $300,000 punters. Your NIL $ should begin once you get your Clemson ring.

I read your first sentence and thought this was gonna be a post about Trump.
You old guys want things to stay the way they’ve always been; that ain’t possible. Universities are there to serve students not us old alumni. I don’t really like watching kids stand in front of me at games incessantly posing for instagram like they’re at a photo shoot, but you know what it ain’t about me it’s about them now.
Graham Neff is one of the best ADs in the country and just cause he isn’t old enough to belong to AARP doesn’t mean we aren’t lucky to have him. Hard choices are needed to keep us competing for natties and he’s done a tremendous job so far. Yeah I know we haven’t played for a natty since he’s been the AD but we also didn’t have NIL when Drad was running the show. The hill (not the one in DV) is a lot steeper now.

like the The Tiger Tailgate Show. I used to listen to it every week. But they have ruined it and the 5th quarter show isn't even worth listening to anymore. If you think the modern Tailgate Show is more entertaining than Love and Hudson did it, with guest appearances from Danny Bored and Loose Boltz,and the guy that was always WALKING TO THE GAME...and Hurricane Duane's weekly song.....then, have mercy on you, you don't know what you're missing.

I can get the players and coaches comments on demand online after I get home. I don’t really care what anyone who didn’t participate in the game thinks about how things transpired.
If it’s a noon game we might listen to the tailgate show to find out if any injury or availability news is available. But really it’s just background noise cause I’d much rather hear what my friends have to say at the tailgate.
I’ll give you this perspective though. As a kid, listening to Clemson games on the radio, I was transported to a different world by the dulcet tones of Jim Phillips. I don’t get that feeling anymore from broadcast; so I do have that nostalgia

Spud - I appreciate your rant. I’m an ‘83 grad so history and tradition means a lot to me (just like you and many others). All of the places (4) I lived in Clemson are gone/redeveloped.
With that said, I STILL LOVE EVERYTHING about my school. We’ll change and freak out, but………..

He hit it the nail on the head with that one. I really appreciated alot of Paul Harvey and how he could articulate certain points of views and analogies on most any topic . He definitely came with a intelligent point of view and the truth on top of that.... I still listen to him about 2 or 3 good ones a month...
