per my observation, as he has begun to take the virus more seriously in his public statements. Many people look to him as an example, and will follow just about anything he says. I'm seeing an increasing number of statements from my friends and acquaintances along the lines of "Now I see how bad it really is." A couple have actually publicly apologized for earlier statements of dismissal, which I admire.

this plague back in Dec of last year. I mean you guys have spent nearly years calling him a Russian asset and four now calling him a liar.
I'm delighted that you're paying attention after calling him a xenophobe when he shut down incoming travel from China in Jan.

I hear Trump and Hannity discuss how the MSM and libs got on his case about the CHina travel ban. And many posters here. Maybe I don't hit the far leftist sights as much as I should to see that they were against the travel ban.
Please send me the hit lists. I'd like to see who the idiots were you said that action was xenophobic.
Not talking about calling it China Flu as being xenophobic... talking about the travel ban being xenophobic or a stupid idea.
Not saying it didn't happen as we are a country of 300 million and I'm sure from those numbers there are idiots who didn't like it.

But that's not what happened is it? He didn't take this seriously at first at all, he downplayed it to talk to wall street instead of focusing on the general public.

His bold move to close the border with china, really saved us. If he had not done that, we would be just like Italy. He saved lives and saved our economy.

were listening to Trump et al downplay the threat for over a month now, causing the virus to spread much more than it would have had they not listened to the President and his henchmen.
It's good that your friends are apologizing for listening to him. I guess that is some small solace.
Do you think Trump should apologize too?

My opinions and view of this has not changed one bit since January 21st when I first posted about it. Yall can keep calling me crazy. Don't care. No apologies necessary.
Perfectly in line with human nature to underact to/downplay/ignore REALLY bad news, and often to overreact to news that's not really that that bad. I watched China from the start. I watched their reaction. It said all you need to know. If they could have hidden it, they would have. If they could have downplayed it, they would have. If they could have contained it, they would have. But when you see the level of action they took, you knew it was bad, going to spread, and would be here some day, and worse than their numbers indicate. Judge their actions and reactions, not their numbers or rhetoric. China is NOT going to overreact to something like this. They would not shut down 1/7 of the world's economy for 3,000 deaths, and 80,000 sick people. Nope. They likely execute larger numbers yearly for political dissidence or religious prosecution. The actions/reactions are what you watch, not the numbers.

I think concern management was fair. I wouldn't give Trump an A+ on it but when millions when to the stores and emptied the shelves of toilet paper and hand sanitizer reasonable people saw why Trump tried to manage concern.
Trump's actions during the early life of this virus showed concern and that he was preparing for the worst. He shut down travel from China on Jan 31. That was just over a week after our first case developed.

Respectfully disagree here. He should have known that no matter what it was coming, his team should have advised him of this fact forcefully if he was not getting it. Then the CDC,HHS should have been spooled up in preparation for it hitting here. This is not rocket science and I, like Tiggity, knew by watching what was occuring in China knew the dang thing was coming. A 3 month head start on not fouling up a test, assess the need for ventillators and begin procurement, and alert the Nation as to what to expect in reality, not the BS he spouted back in January. He was clueless then, only now has he been FORCED to admit he knew NOTHING.
Sorry but this has been a cluster puck run outfit on this event from the beginning. Thankfully saner folks have gotten his ear finally because he was walking towards a cliff prior.
Does not take a genius to know China was but 1 vector as far as cases from other Nations. Stopping travel from just CHina helped but certainly did not shut the door closed.

Yes I know ,thing is what he said last month is meaningless because the genie was out the bottle here. Now back when China admitted a problem is a different story because right then we should have been mobilizing. One only needed to watch tv to see is was gonna be here.
