I will say this...Dabo is loyal. Sometimes to a fault.

But in this instance, he walked the walk and again made us realize what makes him a great man, aside from also being a really good football coach.
He turned down more money and a chance to go coach his alma mater to stay at lil' ole' Clemson. That speaks volumes.
Respect.

If not it's because he ended talks before it got to that point.

I think you're wrong. I think he was the second call after Lanning.

Link to said offer being more than he is making here?
But yes, I’m glad he seems committed to being our coach. He has $11.5 million reasons a year to be.

Logic says Bama would've paid him more so that is speculation on my part

but probably safe to bet on since Deboer will be making more than 10 million a year. And David Hood reported that Dabo shut down talks when he was contacted. I don't think Bama makes the call just to say hello. I'm going off of what I have read and heard today.

David said “Yes, heard late last night that those conversations, brief as they were, were at an end. ”
To me that could mean anything …the “talks” could have been a courtesy to let Dabo know he was not up for serious consideration at this point so he was not left hanging.

Thanks tmitchell27. Actually it was a couple other Clemson media persons that broke the story last night. But anyway, seems you get it.
Most, including 1988 were posting they didn't even want him.
Dabo's thought about taking the job for a long time. He would always say "never say never ". But he refuses to ever answer any speculation or what if scenarios.
If anyone doesn't think this was a difficult decision for Dabo, then they obviously don't know Dabo as well as I do. Dabo loves Bama, always will. He knows exactly what it takes to coach at Alabama. And that never factored into his decision. He was never "scared " to take on the challenge. He knew they'd give him free reign to run the program how he sees fit.
I think you nailed it. He is loyal and yes he does love Clemson. Some will play semantics on whether or not he was offered. That's splitting hairs. Fact is, there were plenty at bama's AD office that threw the kitchen sink to get Dabo. Thanks again for posting the truth.
