is good ...not great...He said Connor Salmin was fast but not a burner.....And then yesterday I heard another recruiting guy say that Salmin could take the top off a defense WHICH IS WHAT I HAD PREVIOUSLY HEARD.....I just saw that he ran a 4.42...so that seems pretty legit to me....

Ross, Tee, Mike W or Hopkins were not burners but all could take the top off a defense. The technique of the WR and also having a good run game are also big factors

A 4.42 is a decent speed coming out of high school, but not burner level yet. It equates to about an 11 second 100yd - assuming no drop off and the ability to maintain to the end.
Speed in pads is more important. Jerry Rice ran a 4.6 40 at the combine, but also ran a 4.6 40 in pads during the game. Not many WR or DBs can do that.

last few years could clock 10.4 in the 100. Nate Wiggins ran a 10.55 100 in HS, 4.28 40 at the combine. Salmin has rare speed-

At nearly 60 years old Jerry Rice ran 4.58. Those slow combine times are considered urban myths. Game footage has estimated Rice averaged 4.3 fourth most of his career. Every coach said he played faster than that. There’s footage of 59-year-old Rice running that 4.58 official time at the combine in 2020. That alone says Myth Busted!

Well it technically is good, not great based on recruiting standards. It's only high right now because of the number of recruits. We don't have any 5* or Top 50 overall guys. Hopefully we do get that big time player or 2 to head the class. We're going to need a 5* QB soon I know that, unless guys shine and earn extra recognition this season...like Tate Reynolds

If we could add Morgan, that'd be 3 solid receivers. But I agree with your assessment, we have numbers and off to a good start. Just need a few of the top 50 consensus guys that tend to be later commits.

Spud , I watched the films of him from the recruiting sites.
Now I know they're highlights , but I saw him run past and away from different DBs on at least 7 different teams.
I'm not saying the guy is Usain Bolt , butthem other boys on them other teams weren't gaining ground and in most cases looked like they were running in slop compared to Connor Salmin.
I played safety in HS (about 40 years ago●), the kid looks like a burner to me.

Just another one in the long line of not as good as sec speed. He is from Ga and sees everything through a UGA filter. Winning takes care of sec talking heads starting with LSU.

After we beat LSU the heads like Pate will claim it was because of our easy schedule and not having the rigors and tests of an LSU schedule.
After the opener , they'll say this. It just means more.

His superficial reactions are the exact opposite of an authority on the subject of Clemson.

Josh Pate is just another shallow thinking talking head. He can’t analyze below what he observes on the surface in the moment. He looks at a loss and doesn’t consider anything deeper than the scoreboard. He reacts like a fan would, not like a legitimate football analyst with the ability to consider all the factors that went into a particular game or other factors such as coaching changes that should logically pay off a little further down the road.
In short, Josh Pate is good for reading a box score, not so much for providing a good read on what to expect.
