I try very hard not to over react.

I'm a septugenarian. I've seen a lot. I've been young. I've over reacted after a win; I've over reacted after a loss. I try not to do that any more.
One game does not a season make. One game certainly does not a program make. You are never as bad as it seems after a loss (well, the 2024 FSU team was even worse than it seemed) and you're never as good as it seems after a win.
So, I'm not yelling and screaming for coaches to be fired or players to be benched or kicked off the team.
But, I gotta admit this - After listening to Eric Mac Lain analyze what went wrong and after thinking about the game (I still haven't rewatched it) I am concerned about the offense. Not the talent. I still think the offensive talent is elite. I'm concerned about the play calling. Eric described it as "uninspired." I'll just describe it as "vanilla."
Not over reacting. Just admitting I'm concerned.

You are correct sir. As well as MacLain. We should all be concerned with the Clemson offense. “Uninspired” is right.

This isn't an over-reaction to one game. It is a culmination of 5 years of frustration.

I’m a liitie concerned. Wish i had a dollar for every opening offensive series where we throw an incomplete pass, get stuffed on a second down run and throw another incompletion on third and long. It’s like clockwork. Be a great prop bet.

I haven't rewatched the game but I don't recall our db's getting their heads turned around on deep balls. I'm so tired of the pass interference calls on 3rd down. Seemed to happen alot last year and again Saturday night.

Always vanilla during the beginning of the season. Slowly the playbook opens up throughout the season.

Its not an overreaction when you see it over and over again with the same result

It wasnt just uninspired or vanilla. It was downright unexplainable. As in, nothing they did made any sense. I put in another post like this - every down was like they were just drawing random plays out of a hat. No rhyme or reason to it. And it looks like this against any team with a pulse.

I can type a post and proofread it 5 times. It looks perfect. But, after it is posted, the next time I read it the error jumps off the page "yelling and creaming" at me.
Hey, I'm old. Get off my lawn! 😉😁😁😉

I think the contrast of LSU's creativity to our same old plays made it obvious

I think we put too much on Cade, and he isn't quick enough to see things and passes up open WR"s too often.
Most obvious case was the last 3rd down, he threw into tight man-man while #6 was all alone. Film analysis shows how often he doesn't see good downfield options.
That contrasts with Nussmeier who is decisive and accurate, although he got away with a couple of throws that could have cost him.

Cade lets emotion get in the way of logic

During one of his first half runs, he juked out of bounds to avoid getting hammered by one of LSU’s DBs. He immediately started yelling at & taunting the DB. Why? He needs to keep his emotions in check and think. He should always be thinking ahead. But he doesn’t. That’s why he’s good and not great. He can show emotion after the game, but during the game he should stay calm, cool & collected. I have yet to see that from him.

It's very difficult to understand the "it's not talent" stance when.........
Sep 2, 2025, 12:00 PM
|
|
we see our supposedly "best WR room in 5 years" drop inexplicable balls uncontested. we see our supposedly "best WR room in 5 years" have zero fight or ability to grab "50/50 balls" we see our 3-4 year starting Senior QB look like a deer in headlights most of the night our "highly touted Oline" provide very little protection for QB or holes for RB. we see a failed converted WR "beating out" two very highly touted RBs for the starting spot.
for the thousandth time and 4+ straight years............WE DO NOT HAVE ELITE OFFENSIVE TALENT!!
there is blame to go around in all facets of the players, coaching, playcalling, etc........but the talent doesn't come close to what we had 2015-2019

Has anyone noticed and this has been going on for years now at Clemson. You can almost certainly tell it's a run play based on the WRs we have in the game. Like if Wesco, Moore, and Brown were on the sideline last Saturday it was a run play like 90% of the time. Go back and watch it's been happening for years. If I can pick that up, then I'm sure other DCs can as well.
