Seems like I remember someone telling me or reading somewhere that Sammy played both ways in high school. Both offense and defense. If that's so, what position did he play on offense? Was it running back? If so, could he help us out there?

So no, we will not use him at RB unless it’s jumbo package

I get what your saying, and I dont want to take him off defense or wear him out. But man, Mafah is done. Haynes is done. Adams isn't ready. Who have we got left?

Dang man, he has to be completely gassed at the end of our games considering how bad our offense is and how much he runs up and down the field. Let's give him the well deserved 3 and out breather than he needs.

Yeah seems like he’s one of the only ones who wants to actually hit someone on Porkchop’s soft defense so, I can imagine him being exhausted since he makes most of the tackles. Well he makes most of the tackles when his “brilliant”(lol) defensive coordinator doesn’t have him on the bench.

Yes he did play both ways in high school and yes he was a great running back. However, we can’t afford to lose his productivity on defense. You also can’t learn all the nuances of a position in college at this level in 14 days. So, no thank you.

He played running back and had almost 2200 yards rushing and 36 TD his senior year. He could probably start at RB. He never came off the field in HS

He could. I would imagine a competitor like that takes his own time to prep and keep up with that part of the game. That would be some kind of wild card down the stretch here, but considering our 3rd string RB may be the healthiest and best option at this critical juncture maybe the time to get a little more creative. Sammy's played a lot but not a full season yet really. Young Dude like that has plenty of gas in a tank.

As a coach, you earn your keep and the respect of players and peers by stepping up and offering a solution to a problem that may be a solution that is not recognized as being the norm but could work.
The reward would outweigh the risk in this situation, because you would know after a couple of series if it is going to work. Picking up an avg of 5 yards a carry and a pass over the middle for breakaway yds. would be a good test. It could not be worse than putting a very slow, injured player in the bsckfield. Let Mahfa heal. Somebody needs to quit being stubborn and get rid of the tunnel vision.

You guys are seriously talking about him going both ways? He's the single bright spot in a putrid defense and you want to wear his a$$ out running him on offense. At least Dabo isn't that stupid.

I'm not sure folks are talking about running him both ways. We need to move the ball and score points.

So he already plays defense. They want him to play as a running back. I'm pretty sure that would require him to go both ways unless they don't want him on defense anymore. So that would be running him both ways unless I'm missing something. We suck on defense. We can't jeopardize that to get snaps for him on offense. These defensive guys are absolutely gassed by the end of the game and you guys want to put more on his plate?

Kid is 19 and full of vim and vigor. He could play a 5-hour game both ways. Extra rest between rounds to boot.

You're probably right. 5 hours was a stretch. 4 hours though, and it's not like he's going to be in on every O play, but a healthy and frequent part of the rotation is probably well within this young man's wheelhouse.

I think it would be a great idea to utilize Sammy in a few short yardage situations. There’s no doubt in my mind that he would be a better option than Mafah. He played the entire game going both ways in high school. I don’t care if he gets gassed. We will lose if Mafah is our only option at running back.

We have other running backs that were recruited for that position. Our coach just doesn't want to play them. If you aren't going to play them, why sign them. This is all on CJ.

playing LB against Sark's scheme for us. He's just now learning to read his keys. I could see him getting a few carries in short yardage, but you folks are dreaming if you think he's going to get a bunch of carries.
It will be Mafah, Adams, EZE and Green. I could see some 2 back sets with a Randall or Tink lined up in the backfield to try to get them 1 on 1 with a LB throwing the ball
