I think the football team will be fine this year

I am a little worried about the QB position. Other than that I think we re good. I even believe we upgraded at several coaching positions. Venables was a decent coach but nothing amazing. Elliot wasn't impressing me. I think those losses won't mean much. I expect our coaching to make solid jumps this season. Dabo knows what he is doing. But his loyalty to DJ might be a bit too much.

I'm serious. I thought he was ok but not great. I thought Venables was over hyped. Not saying he was bad but on a 1 to 10 scale. I'll give him a 6.5.
One of the issues I have with his defensive is pass coverage. Outside of some really gifted athletes who preformed well, too many times I've seen CBs look lost in pass coverage over the years. He even got him an x NFL coach to coach the position and it still was lackluster. So yeah coach V was good but nothing special.
I predict he will bomb in OK and be gone within 5 years and back to coaching a defense.

Yes there were. I have seen some defenses with far less talent perform really well. With the talent he has had at clemson, he shoulda been better to be honest.
And having his son playing D, was questionable at times. I dud think his Don came along well and improved alot. Even turned into a decent player, early on, he was not so great but still played. I often wonder if that was really a lack of options or favoritism.
The point I'm making is that Wes Goodwin is an upgrade.

Oh and you wanted me to name 1 or 2. Gotcha. I'm sry sir. Let's make it easy then. Take any defensive coordinator from Alabama over the last decade or Ohio St and in most, not all cases, I'd wager they were as good or better than Venables. The talent here help the coach imo. When coach V was at Oklahoma back before, he was known to get blown out here and there. And it was not because he was great.
