Is it too soon

May 12, 2017, 10:46 AM

to suggest that conservatives suck at picking our elected leaders? They had a lineup of ten guys to choose from. One of them was far and away the best candidate they have produced n years named John Kasich. But they went with the clown instead. I guess being easily duped and giving into fear is not helping this party decide who to put in office.

queue the "but but but Hillary".

Falsehood flies, and truth comes limping after it, so that when men come to be undeceived, it is too late; the jest is over, and the tale hath had its effect: like a man, who hath thought of a good repartee when the discourse is changed, or the company parted; or like a physician, who hath found out an infallible medicine, after the patient is dead.

one conclusion. There is only one party that sucks worse at picking candidates
since the one they chose lost. Kasich was my preference as well.

"But Hillary", in this case, is pretty fair. And when you

May 12, 2017, 11:25 AM

Add "and Bernie." it becomes even more noteworthy.

I'm not defending Trump or the Republicans who selected him. But for goodness sake...at least the Pubs had some choices. No one could even be heard on the Democrat side except for Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Seriously, think about that. That is terrible.

extremely poor strategy by the dems, I agree. thy anointed her long before the election which allowed the GOP to focus all of their attention on her.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think it has more to do with defining their agenda

May 12, 2017, 11:57 AM

There are at least four kinds of republicans right now compared to basically moderate (Hillary) and far left (Bernie) democrats. While he may be horrible, Trump grasped the thing that conservatives have in common. They felt like the government wasn't working for them.

Just my opinion.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think you're right.

May 12, 2017, 12:25 PM

My opinion is that Trump is just the pendulum of Obama swinging the other way. The strange thing is people thinking that President Trump is a conservative in any way shape or form.

Re: I think you're right.

May 12, 2017, 3:39 PM

Also, people were wanting someone who didn't fall in line with the status quo-like Trump and Bernie. They both fought resentment within their respective parties.

You mean from a pragmatic, competent persona who loves the USA to a bloviating failure of epic stupidity who sold us to Russia kind of pendulum?

May 12, 2017, 2:52 PM

Cruz, Rubio, and Kasich was over 50% of total. I think the mainline conservative vote shifted throughout the primary based on who was left standing.

I voted for Rubio in the primary and did not vote for Trump in the general.

was there someone else in the democratic primaries?

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yes....

May 12, 2017, 7:01 PM

Martin O'Malley was in the primaries (some primaries)

Lincoln Chafee, Jim Webb, Lawrence Lessig all declared and ran, but I'm not sure any of them ever made to an actual vote. They were certainly in debates.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: yes....

May 13, 2017, 12:08 PM

they are going to have to work on their ring antics if they expect to get any coverage during the primaries. Had one of them thrown a chair at reporters, I guarantee they would have had a better chance of even competing.

badge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Right. The DNC wasn't actively working for Clinton...

May 13, 2017, 3:36 PM

and even if they were, that probably had nothing to do with it.

but if one of them had thrown a chair at sean hannity, they would have pulled even with clinton. ;)
