I think Mafah is hurt.

I'm aware Pitt's game plan was to stop the run and they played that along with rushing the passer very well. Our O-line being shallow helped their gameplan but Mafah just didn't seem to be the same. I think his head was on sideways due to physical injury which is probably unknown.
I'm not disrespecting him at all but yesterday I wished Ship had stayed one more year.

Yes he's not 100%. Hopefully he will heal and have a great finish to the season and draft.

He needs to be sat for the Citadel game. He's got his 1000 yards let him rest and heal and let's play 2 or 3 of the young backs.

Agreed. Did he get his 1000? Wasn't sure if he did yesterday.

Mafah is sitting at 998. He did cross 1K yards rushing but had a negative play that brought him back under.
That being said, I definitely think you sit him for a week or keep him on a snap count to minimize wear and tear because we'll need to be as close to 100% healthy as possible when Carolina rolls in.

He was two yards shy. He’s 178 carries for 998 yards. Needed 19 and got 17 on 17 carries

yep he has always had that thing on his arm that connects to his shoulder pads. I think he is gutting it out and not a 100%. Really surprised no one else got carries yesterday to try to shake up the run game

He is subconsciously cutting away from that banded up shoulder even if it is into getting tackled. He is only probably playing as much as he is due to no other running back can pick up the blitzes like he can. I think they are not touching him in practice, but after he starts blocking so much in the game he starts favoring the shoulder and just cannot give it his all! I think it is something that he will definitely have surgery on after the season!

Noticed the last several games he ducks out of bounds to avoid contact.

Yes. Obviously not taking on would be tacklers.

Who’s talking about Shipley? Since you opened that door: I guess 1187 yards at 5.6 avg is nothing. 🤣

That was all without an offensive line. Eagles think he’s worth a roster spot.

It has appeared that way for a couple of weeks. He’s been very tentative into the holes. Kinda tip toeing instead of reckless abandon. I think he would have broken 200 yards easily the week before. He also seems to shy away from contact rather than running people over. Could be fatigue. He just isn’t what he was.

His blocking yesterday was minimal, at best. He barely tried to get in the way of the rusher if the play was going the opposite way. He must be hurt. Let the rest of the running back room carry the load next week.

He wouldn't back down like he does if he wasn't protecting himself. I don't think he's going to recuperate until after our bowl game.

In my humble opinion as a fan and not a coach of any type. Now that he has his 1000 yds, then maybe a little more Jay Haynes to mix it up would open things up a bit for him. The Shitadel will probably see a different snap count from the RB room. Save him for the #####.

For all the people that keep saying "we are super thin at rb" and "all we have is mafa"......what makes you think that Haynes Adams and Green are so bad?......firstly none of them have played much....but should one of them be forced into action and get 20-25 carries like mafah it wouldnt surprise me at all if they go over 100 yards with a td.
the very little i've seen them play they dont strike me as bad players at all. all anyone ever says is "haynes is 170"......ok and.......he literally has no wear on his body he could play the rest of the snaps of the year and he would be fine. not worried about it.
Georgia to use an example has had there top rb Etienne miss several of there top games, and quite frankly they seem to play better when he's not there, at the least no one notices his absence that much, no one on there team even has 500 yards rushing for the season.

I think our #2 RB is hurt.

It might be fumbles and blocking keeping the other two off the field. If an RB can't block then him being in the game, generally, signals a running play.

Depth is a must in the SEC.
Coach Kilmer is killing Mafah.

There is literally no depth @ Rb. if Phil is injured and still can't get a break, then depth is non-existent.

Definitely not against Pitt. He was in on every offensive play along with Cade. Pretty sad.
