CK2 film breakdown for App State

Aaron Murray did a fantastic job breaking down his film against UGA. It really highlighted the problems in the passing game to me, of which some were remedied against app. Good watch if you have 15 minutes.

I think he mentioned that he likely will do another Cade film session from the NCSt game. I’m hoping he does.

This was concerning because Murray illustrated where Cade’s vision of the field is still not connecting to what he should already understand about the offense conceptually and where the opportunities for layups really exist. Bottomline, Cade threw some great passes for completions that against better safeties could have been INTs. Keep that in mind heading into conference play. Hopefully, Riley is bringing this same message in film study this week. You know Doeren’s staff will be breaking down these tendencies in their game prep.

That’s right. But it was an improvement over UGA. He hesitated against UGA and at times just didn’t throw the ball. A few points that seemed to be patterns: - happy feet (only against UGA) - hesitant and late on throw (both games) - wrong read overcome by arm talent (App State) - playing outside the play scheme by skipping the #1 read even though the receiver is open Big issue seems to be the hesitation and extra hitches before the throw. I’m hoping the confidence from App can get him ripping the ball and trusting the read.

What I was thinking as well. The difference I think you see is we will get Mafah going early since NCST run D has been atrocious their first two games. That will open things up and cause safeties to bite. We didn’t use Mafah near as much against APP IMHO because they didn’t have to and they wanted to show NCST and other teams a lot. They knew APP had issues on the back end.

I did not see one pass that would have been intercepted by anyone!! Maybe He stunk against Georgia. He was great against App state! Might stink ever game from here on out but against App St He was literally the best ever in the ACC. Why can’t you just say good job?

Actually, look at the first long pass to Wesco. The AppSt safety ran the wrong angle to the ball. If he had run the right angle to the pass delivery point, the pass would likely been knocked down -- or perhaps intercepted -- or Westco would have been knocked down. Aaron Murray's comment was correct. CK held the ball for a second too long. The play was open earlier. I think CK has been taught to double-check for other players (safeties or LBs floating into the delivery zone) b4 releasing the pass, with the coaches thinking his strong arm can still beat the safety to the spot.
That's not necessarily bad, but against good teams, the openings close quickly.

He might have thrown the ball to someone else if the safeties were quicker...

and more talented. I don't think anyone can say otherwise with any confidence. It's called objectivity and Murry should be aware that such nonsense is just that.

He prob will. He does a lot different film breakdowns. I think he thinks highly of Cade just listening to him talk about Cade but that’s JMO.

He knows his stuff. It’s interesting when he questions if CK2 on details and he will point out it might be coaching.

This is why there are no good persistent youtube channels breaking down All22 film. If you get a lot of traction on your channel, some team will hire you away.

Why would we want to force him to train another QB coach?

Moore probably scores at 6:25 if CK gets it to him

I loved having him take the easy comps & being decisive, but just getting quicker at seeing those types of plays would go a long way.

I think Cade is looking for the guy who is open early rather than...

holding it another sec or two and hitting the primary. I also think Cade is going to be getting the same, or better, breakdown of all his plays during the next two weeks and will be surprise Boston Col with the refinement of his skill at picking which receiver he throws to.
After watching the last game more and considering how much he progressed in just one week I proposed we'd be 11-1 at the end of this season.
If a receiver is having a bad game the coaches know who not to throw to. They manage that by play calling. I think I'll try to watch the game again and see if I can pickup on that concept.

I believe that too. I think we saw what the offense was capable of doing last week. The bye week, though sucking for the fans, comes at a time when the guys will be able to really settle into their roles, study the film, and take the good things we did and make them great.
No doubt CK2 is getting better analysis, and he now has two weeks to begin working on quicker releases (which was already improved) and settling into knowing which routes to wait on before moving to another one. I would not be the least bit surprised if the coaches just told him to take the quick throws.
Again, the issues from last week in terms of timing are fixable. That's all we need at this point--I believe we have the dudes we need in order to compete. We will find out next Saturday if we are able to keep the momentum.
