I saw a lot of " need to get rid of Streeter/Goodwin" posts

Last night and early this AM...
Those fans need to ask yourselves this question..
Would last nights game would've went different.. If Tony Elliott was calling plays on offense?
Or Brent Venables would have been calling plays on D?.. ???

yes. it most certainly would have.
Coaching is not just making play calls. it’s creating a belief and inspiration in your players that no matter who they play or how hard things get they can and will over come.
I firmly believe if Coach Venables was still here ND would not have had 250+ rushing last night

If BV would have been calling the plays, yes the defense would have performed better.
Just my opinion.

Yes if BV was the DC. No better offense if Elliott was there.

Roof is OK’s DC, not Venables. Venables is the Head Coach and has basically turned over the D to Roof, which is why they suck. Venables would’ve been a hell of a lot better for Clemson last night.

Yes, it would have been a beat down the other way around. But not Elliott. Elliott was bad also. We need a Jeff Scott/Brent Venables combo. 30 screens a game, and fearful to throw the ball down field has been the story since Jeff Scott left. Goodwin got luck with the talent, and he is still blowing it

Based on history i would say the D would have been much more sound under BV as far as the offense it would have been the same result more or less in my opinion not sure score would have been any different because we don’t have the personnel that we have had in the past no matter who’s calling plays our QB/WR plus O coordinater is the reason we are not very good on offense. I do agree it is time to go get a offense mind and start fresh

Ummm definitely YES with BV calling defense and I think there are posters on Tnet who could’ve called a better offense last night.

At the start of the season ESPN had Clemson the #1 defense, so with the poor coaching on both sides of the ball, look at us now, heading back in the pack of a terrible ACC.

would need to establish the running game to do anything against us offensively and we still allowed them to run for 260 and nearly 6 yards per carry. I can guarantee you that doesn't happen under BV. A team that can only run and throw underneath to one TE would never have any success against a BV defense. A front 7 has been very disappointing this year given their talent level. We're letting teams run the football successfully, we aren't creating all of those havoc plays we consistently got under BV, and our LBs and safeties have just looked lost so many times this year.

New coordinators have to be given a shot. I wonder how many of the players we now have were recruited by Streeter and Goodwin? DJ has not been cutting it for two years. Not Streeter's fault, IMHO. Goodwin inherited a defense that was weak on the back end and supposedly strong up front. Last night was a reversal, where the back end played okay, but the front seven were pretty bad. Our coaches, including Dabo, need to do some great recruiting in the next couple of years. Also need to crack the whip on the players. Just too soft all around. We shall see.

“new” coordinators…as in brand new, never held the reigns of even a highscool team, have no business getting a shot at the very highest level.
That’s like starting a game of Tetris on level 9 having never played the game before.

you have 2 weeks to prepare for this game and the teams swap coordinators. It appeared to me Rees had a CLEAR plan on how to attack our defense and Golden shut us down as well. Different outcome?

Brent Venables - Yes
Tony Elliott - No (But Tony sucked as a play caller as well)

Yes on both counts.
While the Elliott offense would have been predictable, operating at a snails pace. They wouldn’t have played horizontal football for 3 quarters.

Goodwin can go. Streeter is handcuffed by Dabos QB and likely Dabos playcalling.

Offense? Hard to say. How entrenched is Dabo? Whoever is calling the plays lacks creativity and attention to detail.

Jeff Scott overated need to go out and hire a big-time OC Elliott gets too much blame for a sub par QB and an offense controlled by Dabo. Like it or not I would go after the lane Kiffin or Les Briles offense . By the way find a QB because ours suspect.

Clemson would not have won two Nattys if not for BV. I disagreed with making Goosein DC but supported him after decision was made. However, I hope we look outside theborganization for a defensive mind in the off-season. BV was underpaid even if he made the most money of any DC in the nation.
