I think that I've finally reached my breaking point, and this might be my last game to watch in person. Today I learned that the tickets we ordered through IPTAY are $250.00 each. On top of the motel, parking, gas, food, and more...I think that's it. Welcome to the NFL of college football. I'll still be the Tiger fan I've always been, but you just won't hear my noise from the stands.

I didn't know people called them motels anymore.

Unless it's derogatory, of course (e.g., roach motel, roadside motel).

There are nice motels. It’s rare, but you can find them.

File-sharing and streaming have decimated the money that musicians used to make from record sales. Concerts are one of the few ways left for them to make enough money to support themselves, and clearly people are still willing to buy tickets or they'd have to charge less.

Correct, back in the day, bands toured to promote their albums … with streaming most of the revenue went away … they can’t live on streaming royalties. Money is made by touring!!!
We can complain (and believe me I do) but every show I go to is sold out.

It's not that tickets, for say Imagine Dragons in Charlotte, costs $150 for middle-back of the venue tickets, but that it's ANOTHER $70 to $100 per ticket in processing fees for a digital ticket by Ticket Master, Stubhub, etc. Artists do need and deserve to make money off their music, so it has gone up. But it's the other fees that kill drive to go.
Add in transportation and room costs, which have their own hidden extra fees, and it just gets to the point of "yeah, not doing this". Might as well add on tipping suggestions for these digital transactions, ha.

fans the shaft, it is Ticketmaster and other entities like them charging Usury add-on rates on top of the original ticket prices. It has gotten so bad the regulators are starting to get involved. It is legal (for now) scalping, is all it is.

Ever took a gander on YouTube and pulled up one your favorite songs? I watched an Eminem music video I remembered from growing up just for old times sake. You want to take a guess at how many views it had? Hundreds of millions. Tens of millions. Now, you want to tell me what kind of royalties YouTube, or Apple Music, or Amazon music is paying these guys? I’ll wait.

YouTube pays about $4 per 1,000 streams.
So if you were looking at Without Me he has earned about 7.6 million in passive income over the last 15 years from that one.

There are musicians who have the pedigree to tour all over the world that cost $15 - $30 dollars in the US.
Tons of great and affordable music out there if you aren't chasing nostalgia or pop stars

I can definitely empathize with that, but it's just supply and demand. The stadium will be full, so why would they charge less? They'd just be leaving money on the table for scalpers.

If it's like a bowl game that's not entirely accurate

Each school is contractually obligated to buy a large number of tickets and resell them to their fans; and they're usually the worst seats. So Clemson is selling sheety seats in the upper deck end zone for $250 because that's how much it cost them to buy em. If those were sold on the open market without restrictions I doubt they sell for such a premium.

Wrong, upper deck prices range from $150-$225. They are still available thru IPTAY.

Would pay $150-$225 for those tix on the open market. The organizers of the game have removed 15K-20K tickets (many of em the worst seats) from the market and guaranteed revenue for them by requiring schools to buy them. Effectively inflating the prices that are sold to regular customers.

If you haven't already paid for parking somewhere, I'd recommend parking at one of the MARTA stations outside of the city and taking the train in. Parking is free and the lots are just as safe as the ones downtown, if not safer. I've done it plenty of times in the past and never had a problem. Indian Creek is the station I usually park at. You don't have to change trains, and the stadium is right there when you get off downtown (GWCC/CNN Center station).

Yeah, the only downside of parking at one of those stations is you'll have to change trains downtown. Indian Creek is on the same line as the stadium station.

How did you not realize what the tickets cost before you ordered them? It was clearly noted when you ordered them thru IPTAY. Actually, you had to pick a ticket level, and they ranged from upper level $150-$225, lower level $250-$450. Crazy prices but Clemson didn't set the price, & they weren't trying to fool anyone.

A "MO" tel is a room where you can back yo auto right up, so you can bring MO into the room. A "HO" tel is a place with rooms that enter from the inside, allowing more Privacy to bring in the "HO" to your room. Thus, motel vs. hotel explained for the Tnet faithful. You welcome!
