I love statues. The one of Bobby Cox outside of the new ATL stadium is awsome! I would wait until Coach Swinney retires before putting up one. We should do one for Coach Howard and Coach Ford first!

Statues are just that...statues. I don't care for statues but
if Clemson were to erect one, it should be Coach Howard, albeit
I doubt he would like it. I like Dabo and I like Ford but Howard
did more for Clemson sports than most folks will ever know.

And his longevity but he did not achieve on the field what Coach Ford and Coach Swinney have accomplished. 55% winning percentage. Again, I appreciate him but his longevity is what has endeared him.

That's good for 40+ years. He also had an undefeated season. He was
coaching against a tough schedule with the likes of Auburn, Alabama,
out-recruit them because of the grade level in the ACC.
If Dabo coaches 40 years he may not have the same percentage he has now.
Think about it.

You guys realize that Howard never played GT, UGA, Auburn,
at home. Clemson was a small military school, and didn’t have a home game against UofSuC until the 60s. Geez guys, what he accomplished was amazing!

After CDS retires I would be all for it. Not a fan of that stuff when people are still actively involved for a number of reasons. When that day finally comes, render all honors.

I would love for Dabo to get a statue once he’s done coaching and working on a farm like Coach Ford. You don’t build statues while the coach is still coaching. Look what happened up in Penn State made a statue and had to tear it down. I’m sure that won’t ever happen to Dabo but Penn state fans thought the same about Joe Pa. I don’t believe that statue is still standing anymore. Also I will have to do some research on Coach Howard I’m a younger cat so he was way before my days. Tommy West was the first Clemson coach I remember as a child. I’ll have to look up Frank Howard books. Any suggestions?

You should have already looked up Coach Howard. Any reel fan would have. Several acquaintances have told me their dads had them to "bless Coach Howard" in their prayers every nite.
