But how long do you guys think it will be before it is completely unrecognizable and unwatchable?

Five years. I know some fans have already cut down their viewing and only follow one or two college teams. Already they have lost interest in pro sports and seldom watch.
The money, and lack of morals seem to increasingly be turning some fans away.

Rarely do I watch the NFL. I will be very disappointed if the University presidents don't step in an force graduation rates back into the scenario.

You have a clear salary cap, you have contracts so you know you will have the player at least through the end of the contract. With the portal and NIL, it is year-to-year where a player goes and they can demand pretty much however much they want. Now, it does not mean they will always get it but it turns these young men into mercenaries who change teams to chase the money. Not all, but your best talent will certainly turn their gaze towards a program with a strong collective and $$$ being thrown at them to jump ship.
Again, the NFL has structure to prevent this in large part. It is not a perfect system and can be improved. I would like to see CFB move in this direction so they can get this under control. If I want to watch highly compensated athletes play ball then that is what the NFL is for. NIL and portal have taken a lot of the fun out of CFB IMO. I still go to Clemson games when I can but it all feels different now. Maybe it is just me.

I have to say that this pretty much describes where I am at. I follow Clemson then keep tabs on Georgia and South Carolina (Admit it. All Clemson fans keep tabs on SC to some extent). I was a life long NE fan, but how I can only name a couple of people on the team. I check on them around playoff time. If they are not in the play-offs I am pretty much done. It the same thing as what happened to basketball.

I would say within 2 years for me , championships have become nothing more than a purchase .

Honestly I’ve gotten way more into the NFL in past years. At least you know what what it is, what you’re getting, and which players generally play for what team.

The NFL model would actually be a major step towards amateurism for College Football at this point.

The people who are playing now with are the same people who would be playing without NIL. The only difference is they can now earn money. How does this make it less watchable?

There is no loyalty in the sport. I do not like to watch players that are only there for the money they could care less about Uga, Clemson and so on. The only reason you feel that way is Uga is at the top when Osu buys a couple of championships your story will change.
